Friends, we have before us two momentous weeks that include Pluto stationary retrograde, a solar eclipse in Taurus, and a series of positive Venus aspects. Let’s consider how to get the most out of the opportunities indicated by this astrological weather.

Sunday April 24 is strongly Saturnian, with Mercury square Saturn exact early in the morning, and moon conjunct Saturn in the late afternoon. Since this is the dark of the moon, energy may be low and pessimism high. But together the Neptune sextile and the Mercury square can indicate imagination and inspiration given form by balancing insight with practice and study. Situations involving compassion may require difficult conversations. And get some rest.

Monday April 25 only lunar aspects are exact. The aspects of the surrounding days, of course, continue to apply.

Tuesday April 26 the night is joyful with Mercury sextile Jupiter and moon conjunct Venus then Neptune. If you are creative, especially in writing, film, art, or music, this is a great night to make something beautiful. The downside is the increased desire to socialize and get intoxicated, with the pandemic still creeping through our communities. A little caution could prevent a lot of harm. A good night to let go of the bad news and chronic worries to enjoy life a little.

Wed April 27 the potential for inspiration and joy continues as Venus is conjunct Neptune just after noon. This is an aspect of great compassion, artistic imagination, and high romance. Be creative. Express love. Help out where you can. Find inspiration in the mystical and romantic. Intoxication and nostalgia may spoil the good times if over indulged.

Thu April 28 Mercury trine Pluto is exact before dawn. Research, healing, deep conversation, transformative media, can help you let go of outworn reactions. This can be a tranquil aspect for those who have learned their Pluto lessons. Warnings are usually clear, and may reveal easy early fixes.

Friday April 29 at 11:38 AM Pluto is stationary retrograde followed by moon square Pluto. Pluto usually brings to light problems over time. With this combination we may see where in our lives repairs or reforms are needed. Pay attention to what is troubling you. Take care of chronic problems. Criminality, addiction, obsessions, war and disease are among the themes of Pluto and its retrograde suggests we’ll be going back over ground already covered. The most brutal phase of the war is likely to occur around the Pluto station. Also Friday, Mercury enters chatty and sociable Gemini. A good placement for writing. With Pluto so strong, and the eclipse the next day, continue to socialize safely.

Saturday April 30 the new moon in Taurus arrives with the first solar eclipse of 2022. Eclipses in Taurus can indicate issues with food production and distribution, problems in financial markets, and occasionally earthquakes. However supportive aspects to Venus, the ruler of Taurus, may help us avoid worst case scenarios. An opportunity for people born in the first third of Taurus or with ascendant of other significant placements there, or in the first third of Scorpio, to experience rebirth. Also Saturday night a joyous Venus conjunct Jupiter aspect can really get the party started, continuing a series of positive Venus aspects. Another reason this is a great time to be romantic and creative.

Sunday May 1 Venus sextile Pluto can bring shadow work to romance and creativity. Don’t be afraid to explore the taboo themes that reveal themselves. Love and art, creativity, can have a healing influence. With this aspect a movie, or a kiss, could change someone’s life. With Pluto so strong Venus can help us learn Pluto’s lessons more harmoniously. But these aspects, especially the sextiles, can easily be lost in the continuing flow of alarming news in politics, in Ukraine, in the wildfires, and all the other reasons to be upset. Learning how to not just function, but how to find moments of joy despite the problems, is a good skill to learn that will serve us well.

The following week Venus will enter Aries to begin a new cycle around the sun. Jupiter sextile Pluto and Mars sextile Uranus provide opportunities for real positive change but could also expand the war, the pandemic, and online aggression. Erratic violence is more possible, but so are breakthroughs in improving our lives and our world.

In honor of the eclipse a quote from Victor Hugo: “Nations, like stars, are entitled to eclipse. All is well, provided the light returns and the eclipse does not become endless night. Dawn and resurrection are synonymous. The reappearance of the light is the same as the survival of the soul.”
