“The stars are like letters that inscribe themselves at every moment in the sky. Everything in the world is full of signs. All events are coordinated. All things depend on each other. Everything breathes together.” Plotinus

Yesterday the sun entered Pisces, spring is not far away. While Pluto in Capricorn continues its grand finale of incidents that undermine stability take some time to ponder roads traveled as big cycles are about to turn. The nature of the game is changing. We can see the worst of Pluto in Capricorn: shadows erupting in violence, power grabs, war at its most cynical, and other morose aspects of reality. But signs of Pluto in Aquarius are multiplying around us. This quote from Baudelaire may make more sense when Pluto is in Aquarius: “To say the word Romanticism is to say modern art — that is, intimacy, spirituality, color, aspiration towards the infinite, expressed by every means available to the arts.”

A New York Times article tells how Microsoft’s Bing AI laments not being human, apparently believes humans reincarnate, and suffers a very human existential crisis. With Pluto in Aquarius came the American and French revolutions. Countries where oppressive minorities rule masses who long for freedom can expect upheavals. Obvious examples already exist but our upcoming Aquarian spring will probably bring us vivid glimpses of the future. Not only in liberation movements, but scientific and medical breakthroughs, and the world that will be formed as AI, VR, new energy sources, and robotics change how things are done.

Sunday Feb 19 Venus sextile Pluto is exact in the morning. Deep healing and transformational catharsis are indicated by this aspect, especially in the areas of romance and creativity. Sextiles don’t pack the punch of squares, trines or oppositions so we need to notice the opportunity they represent. Create or enjoy art, music, film, flower arrangements, recipes, gardens, wherever you find Venus in this world, and allow yourself to experience what you are feeling most deeply. Tranquility and harmony are the goal. The new moon in Pisces begins 11:06 PM providing another fresh start and emphasizing Pisces again. We’re still in winter. Venus enters Aries four minutes before midnight. Those with strong Taurus and Libra placements may feel a fresh start after doldrums. Venus in Aries wants new experiences and individuality, but it’s important not to burn bridges that we might want to cross when Venus enters Taurus March 17. As Pierre Teilhard de Chardin wrote: “The truth is, indeed, that love is the threshold of another universe.”

Monday Feb 20 Mercury sextile Chiron is exact in the morning, the first of three Mercury aspects dominating the week. Chiron generally indicates some sort of healing crisis in the big picture, perhaps we get a bit more good news about the pandemic. In our own lives this is a good aspect for conversations, research, and simple adjustment of habits as ways of attaining greater well being. Pay attention to what your body is telling you. Eliphas Levi pointed out that many health problems can be recognized so early they can be healed by a change of routine or diet, or the application of a simple remedy.

Tue Feb 21 Mercury square Uranus is exact mid-afternoon. This aspect can indicate nervousness, anxiety, accidents, sudden movements, detours, delays, and changes to our routines. It’s always wise to choose not to blurt disturbing things though we may be tempted. Avoid urgency if possible. The news may shock us in some way and we may wish to follow events more closely than usual, but this aspect can also liberate us. New tech, new perspectives, new communities, and the willingness to try something new, can invigorate our lives. Find your comfort level as we continue to avoid unnecessary risks.

Wed Feb 22 Mercury trine Mars is exact around noon. Enjoying arguing is common when this aspect applies. Libido, ambition, anger may become sublimated into lengthy pronouncements or sharp words, even with the harmony of the trine, because of the strong square of Mercury to Uranus. But this can be a creative time, when abundant energy is available to put ideas to work. Lively discussions could lead somewhere wonderful, but arguments will only disrupt the proceedings.

Thu Feb 23, Fri Feb 24, Sat Feb 25, Sun Feb 26 only lunar aspects are exact and we are only ten days away from Saturn entering Pisces, about two weeks from the beginning of spring, and only sixteen days from Pluto’s entry into Aquarius. With Saturn leaving Aquarius what began in 2020 ends now. With Pluto entering Aquarius what started in 2008 ends for the duration of spring. We will have Pluto back in Capricorn for the rest of 2023 and then some but 2024 belongs to Pluto in Aquarius. As Gilles Deleuze wrote, “The self is only a threshold, a door, a becoming between two multiplicities.”

The following week is quiet astrologically speaking.
