All Times Pacific: Astrology Report Feb 27-Mar 6
In our last report I underestimated the urgency of Putin’s aggression, which commenced with Mars sextile Neptune rather than the Saturn and Pluto aspects with Mercury, Mars and Venus that will dominate this week. Isn’t it interesting that the first of three exact Pluto return events for the USA occurs with Putin front and center as representative of the unregenerate Pluto, the shadow of America, a monster we made in many ways though of course he is responsible for his own actions.
With transiting Pluto conjunct Mars in Ukraine’s astrological chart, conjunct U.S. natal Pluto, Ukraine is the battleground in a new kind of war between two superpowers. Wisely, so far, the U.S, is allowing NATO to take the lead. Would Putin use tactical nukes to force an end to the war advantageous to his mission? He has said that he would. The scary thing about Mars conjunct Pluto all this week and exact Thursday is the pent up force during the pandemic. The desire to display power, flex muscle, and to force submission, will tempt not only Putin, but the U.S. and allies as well.
Mercury conjunct Saturn this week may be helpful or not. If helpful, sanity may prevail, or at least the worst will be avoided. But this aspect can also indicate grim thinking, amplified by Mars conjunct Pluto, it’s dad lays down the law kind of energy. Slam the fist on the table. Yet Venus conjunct Pluto, besides indicating the devastation inflicted on women, children, nature, art, and culture, could indicate the influence of women in preventing more dire outcomes. The combination perhaps suggests acts of terror, assassination, poisoning, snipers, or hidden enemies.

Pluto brings fears to the surface but also healing and transformation if we choose to learn from the challenges it presents. We’ll have plenty of time to work on that this week with so much Pluto in the air.

Tue March 1 sun sextile Uranus is exact indicating the need for freedom, new tech, and new perspectives. Obviously there will be some surprises this week. Politics aside, watching the world unite against a superpower overrunning a sovereign culture has fired up people, increased feelings of compassion, and admiration for courage. In our own lives we can get inspired and liberate ourselves from old ideas and patterns that hold us back. Remember what Rasputin once said: “A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart.”
Wed March 2 Mercury conjunct Saturn in the morning. Also Wed morning the new moon in Pisces arrives. This could be bad news, leading to a feeling of depression, or it could be the imposition of further sanctions and restrictions on Russia. Liquor stores removing Russian vodka from their shelves may be a great publicity move, but it’s also an example of the way the 21st century may allow everyone to have a voice. One billionaire sends an army to seize power. Another billionaire switches on satellites over Ukraine so that army can’t shut down the world’s surveillance. The world is watching. In our own lives this is a good time to simplify, to learn and practice, to work on writing and other forms of creative communication, and a time for good habits, and the drudgery and disciplines that prevent harm.
Very early Thu morning March 3 Mars conjunct Pluto is exact not long after midnight. Venus conjunct Pluto is exact at about 10 AM. Both conjunct the exact U.S. Pluto return. A cyber-attack intended to crash U.S. and E.U. markets would seem possible. Putin is a man driven by revenge. Revenge for Clinton’s manipulation of Yeltsin. Revenge for the loss of the Soviet and Imperial empires. Revenge for the Ukranian resistance that forced him to come back again with a larger force. The damage inflicted on Russian billionaires, banks and currency will no doubt find a response from Putin. The question is have we all done our homework well enough that the worst can be prevented? In our own lives it’s important not to underestimate the power of libido. With both Mars and Venus conjunct Pluto some intense romance, adventure and catharsis is quite possible. But make sure everyone is on the same page as Mercury conjunct Saturn isn’t all that playful, or forgiving. Or perhaps make some powerful art that can transform you and others. As Dostoevsky wrote: “Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. One lunar aspect March 4, moon conjunct Chiron, around noon. Eat something healthy for lunch. Notice areas of physical discomfort and address them by changing habits or acquiring good ones. Ponder this quote from Nina Berberova: “It looks now as if everything has been profitable to me. And if the payment has sometimes been excessive, it was after all the payment, for life, and there cannot be and is no excessive payment for life.”
March 5 Sun conjunct Jupiter just after 6 AM. Mars enters Aquarius at 10:23 PM and seven minutes later Venus enters Aquarius. Venus conjunct Mars is exact at around 11 PM in early Aquarius, but still conjunct the US Pluto return. This is a big change from the earlier part of the week. Sun conjunct Jupiter is optimistic, inspiring, invigorating. Will there be some sort of good news about the pandemic? Or about the invasion launched during a pandemic? The following week is very quiet. Only one aspect will become exact. Although with Mars conjunct Pluto almost anything is possible when it comes to war, once we get through this week the Mars energy begins to fade.
The aggressive alleged irrationality that so many Americans found intolerable during the Trump presidency is now a war and a world wide spectacle conducted by the puppet master himself. It’s practically a Marvel or Star Wars movie, and certainly the mass response against the invasion in many parts of the world is reminiscent of Hollywood’s beloved ending when the rebels facing the overwhelming forces of the villain are saved by the arrival of volunteers from all over the universe. But that too can be a quagmire. Look at what happened in Spain and how it contributed to WW2. Watch this week carefully for some deep secrets will be revealed. And consider your own reactions and assumptions worthy of study. As Tolstoy wrote: “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
