Friends, we have before us a more encouraging week than we have seen in some time. This evening Sun conjunct Jupiter is exact, with Jupiter amplified by being very nearly stationary direct. This could be a time of opportunity and success. But we still have challenges from the exact Mars retrograde square Neptune aspect that was exact again Saturday. This can indicate exhaustion, delusion, deception, paranoia. Confusion can more easily lead to anger. As we have seen before this aspect can indicate pandemic surges; in Los Angeles rates have reached a level that has caused a return to mask mandates.

We also have the continuing Saturn square Uranus fading until it ends Dec 15. Pluto still occupies the degree of its station in October until Dec 10. It’s easy to get overwhelmed or depressed but that may cause us to miss good opportunities. On the other hand we don’t want to make urgent moves that backfire. Make the choice to enjoy a little fun and optimism. You may be surprised to find that your future will emerge more from those moments than from the burdens and bad news we face in the last four months of pure Pluto in Capricorn. The following quote from Laozi is appropriate to keep in mind during such times: “Simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are the greatest treasures. Simple in actions and thoughts, return to the source of being. Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.”

Mon Nov 21 Mercury conjunct Venus is exact bringing much needed grace to communications. A good time for creativity and romance. Kind words go a long way in the current climate. Might there be an opportunity to encourage someone in your vicinity? Still, with the sun and moon in Scorpio it may be better to wait a couple of days for that important conversation. Enjoy art that inspires you, or read something beautiful, perhaps Plotinus On the Beautiful or The Flower Ornament Sutra. Plotinus wrote my favorite quote about astrology: “The stars are like letters that inscribe themselves at every moment in the sky. Everything in the world is full of signs. All events are coordinated. All things depend on each other. Everything breathes together.”

Tue Nov 22 Sun enters Sagittarius at 12:29 AM bringing a more optimistic less obsessive outlook. This is a sociable sign but be careful out there. As long as Pluto is in Capricorn patience, caution, mindfulness are more necessary than usual. We all hate drudgery, but consider what drudgery really is: avoidance of harm. Approached correctly it is a practice of mindfulness and a ritual of protection.

Wed Nov 23 the new moon arrives in Sagittarius at 12:16 PM adding to the more joyful Jupiterian atmosphere. Later that afternoon at 3:02 PM Jupiter is stationary direct. Today and the next two days have extraordinary potential for settling disagreements, bringing opportunities and restoring a sense of direction and potential progress. Since 2008 Pluto in Capricorn has dragged us through some dark times. What if there is a brighter future ahead? Can you see signs of 2023’s Aquarian Spring anywhere in your life? Jupiter will begin a new cycle around the zodiac when it leaves Pisces for Aries on Dec 20. Look back to autumn 2010 when Jupiter was last here. How have things gone for you since then? Perhaps you have a new definition of success?

Thu Nov 24 Mercury trine Chiron is exact in the late evening. With Venus also trine Chiron tomorrow we have unusual opportunities for healing. Research and communication about issues that need attention are favored. But we must take care because Mercury is nearly inconjunct Uranus, an erratic aspect rife with misunderstandings and detours. But reason is not the only way to cure. No power is greater than love.

Fri Nov 25 Venus trine Chiron is exact in the late afternoon. Love, harmony, creativity, beauty can be especially healing now. As Ficino wrote, “I learned from Orpheus that love existed, and that it held the keys to the whole world, the whole power of magic consists in love.” The feminine side of life may hold the key to your well being. Both these trines to Chiron are opportunities for creative people to make something not just beautiful but also healing.

Sat Nov 26 only lunar aspects are exact. I remind you of this quote from Eliphas Levi: “Everything is possible to him who wills only what is true! Rest in Nature, study, know, then dare; dare to will, dare to act and be silent!”

Sun Nov 27 Mercury inconjunct Uranus is exact and can feel a bit like Mercury retrograde but more accident prone. Drive defensively this weekend. Communications may be misunderstood. Check paperwork carefully. Don’t make sudden moves. There may be flashes of inspiration or disruptive realizations. Healing might be found in unexpected places. Sometimes this aspect can indicate trouble with electronics.

Mon Nov 28 Mars trine Saturn is exact just before 10 AM, providing a steadying influence to balance the fog of Mars square Neptune. Saturn allows us to aim our efforts more effectively. We can simplify and more easily differentiate between facts and delusions. Early in the evening Venus inconjunct Uranus is exact. In romantic relationships and creative projects we may find unexpected upsets but their purpose is to liberate what has become stagnant. New perspectives may be frustrating but they help us revive well being.

Neptune will be stationary direct on Sat Dec 3. As it grows stronger common experiences include exhaustion, confusion, addiction especially to intoxication and fantasy, but also inspiration, meditation, compassion and vision. Dreams may give vivid messages, most not to be taken literally. Metaphysical and mystical endeavors are favored if we don’t go overboard; Neptune being the Roman god of the ocean that may be easier said than done. Seek the Dao. Laozi said: “Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?”
