Friends, we have a strange week before us. Confusion is likely. Inspiration is possible. Anger might upset the cart. Increasing contagion is indicated, but at least we have some mitigating tools. Mindfulness is essential. Keep in mind what Thich Nhat Hanh wrote, “With mindfulness, you can establish yourself in the present in order to touch the wonders of life that are available in that moment.”

Today Mercury inconjunct Uranus is exact in the late morning and we don’t need to read the stars to know that sickness will spread thanks to Thanksgiving, which is rather appropriate, given the pandemics the colonists brought to America; all part of the U.S. Pluto return as the country is confronted again and again with different aspects of its shadow. This aspect can be like a brief Mercury retrograde that lasts days instead of weeks. Confusion, detours, delays are not uncommon. Accidents are a bit more likely. It may be difficult to stick to your routine, which may cause anxious feelings and worry. Be mindful out there. In personal communications be patient, avoid blurting regrettable observations. Shocked by some occurrence? How could that help liberate you?

Monday Nov 28 Mars trine Saturn is exact in the late morning. This aspect can help us be patient, offering moderation to Mars retrograde in Gemini. This is a good aspect for exercise, for organizing our efforts, and for outlining what is done and what still needs to be worked on. Hard work is favored but not easy with yesterday’s Mercury inconjunction and today’s early evening Venus inconjunct Uranus, which amplifies Mercury inconjunct Uranus. Both aspects can indicate health concerns. Relationships, especially romantic, may suffer from abrupt reactions. But how do we use these aspects well? Don’t let an unnecessary sense of urgency lead you into chaotic statements or actions. Take it easy. Be patient. Let Mercury and Venus show you ways to heal. In other words, communication, research, and education, but also art, romance, and beauty, can help us free ourselves from the Saturn/Pluto doldrums since the beginning of 2020. Keep in mind this wisdom from William James, “The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.”

Tue Nov 29 Mercury opposes Mars just after noon. Oh oh. Harsh words. Easy violence. Men and the masculine will be tempted to act out. Frustrated ambition, libido, or repressed anger could erupt. But again Saturn indicates a moderating influence. In the evening Mercury sextile Saturn offers measured words and an end to impulsive hostility. Writers and other creative people, this is a great combination of aspects for working your craft. The first part of the day go all out without regard for limits. In the evening edit it into something powerful. Remember what Mark Twain said, “Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.”

Wed Nov 30 Venus opposes Mars in the late evening. This can be fun when worked out romantically, but it’s easy for the genders to get into conflict about opposite points of view. Be sure to understand what the other person is saying. See the larger context of your communications. Is what you are about to say going to have the desired effect? Or are you actually sending a message you would rather not have? As Confucius said, “When anger rises, think of the consequences.” Or as Ben Franklin wrote, “Whatever is begun in anger ends in shame.”

Thu Dec 1 Mercury square Neptune is exact in the late afternoon. As Jack Kerouac wrote, “I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion.” On the negative side this aspect can bring doubt and suspicion to our communications and commutes. People are liable to space out. Over intoxication is more likely when this aspect is around. So are misunderstandings. And with Neptune stationary Saturday this square is more powerful than usual. On the positive side inspiration and imagination can be strong if we work for them. Spend some quiet time with someone you love. Again Saturn offers us relief as in the early evening Venus sextile Saturn is exact. Discretion, discipline, simplicity, loyalty, respect for boundaries, meditation, extra rest, and moderation are the way to get the best out of this week’s aspects.

Fri Dec 2 only lunar aspects are exact. Watch out for moon conjunct Chiron in the early evening. Pay attention to emotions, and to what your body is telling you with subtle discomforts or other hints about habits that might need to be changed. As Rudolf Steiner wrote, “A healthy social life is found only when, in the mirror of each soul, the whole community finds its reflection, and when, in the whole community, the virtue of each one is living.”

Sat Dec 3 at 4:15 PM Neptune is stationary direct in Pisces. Which side will you experience? The confusion, the exhaustion, the depletion, the backward glance of nostalgia, the illusions and deceptions? Or compassion, imagination, inspiration, even cosmic consciousness? Mysteries may be revealed. With Mars retrograde still loosely square Neptune stationary we have another indicator of pandemic surge, followed by two more later in the day. Less than an hour before midnight Venus square Neptune is exact, with sun trine Chiron exact one minute later. Fantasies can excite romance, imagination can inspire creative people, love may reach cosmic proportions in art or relationships. Sun trine Chiron offers healing, but crisis may come first. Don’t over do intoxication however tempting that may be with these aspects. Neptune asks where is the dream that is your life leading you? Keep in mind what Patti Smith said, “In art and dream may you proceed with abandon. In life may you proceed with balance and stealth.
