Friends, we have a momentous week ahead of us. Early this morning Mercury inconjunct Chiron was exact. Last week we thought there might be pandemic news. Today’s headlines report a triple pandemic in winter and what is being called Covid for birds spreading in San Francisco. As expected, Pluto in Capricorn is unlikely to end without an extended grand finale. Nevertheless we have an Aquarian Spring ahead of us in 2023 when Pluto enters Aquarius briefly. Late tonight Venus square Saturn is exact, indicating depression, exhaustion, limits and endings, but also a good opportunity for editing, for showing loyalty and respect for boundaries in relationships. Love can be more painful when this aspect is around, but there is deep learning and a simplification of life that reminds us what is really important. Saturday’s Venus opposition Uranus is still strong, bringing innovation but also disruption to romance, art and finances. Venus focuses the continuing final Saturn square Uranus. Can we find a balance between old and new? Can we adapt? Can we compromise. Choosing one side and demonizing the other is one of the worst ways to encounter this aspect, as the next election is about to demonstrate.

Mon Nov 7 no aspects are exact. As Mark Twain wrote: “Grief can take care if itself, but to get the full value of a joy you must have somebody to divide it with.”

Tue Nov 8 Election Day Sun conjunct Mercury is exact in the morning. This may indicate a surge in voting among younger people. In the evening Mercury opposition Uranus is exact, an aspect that can indicate anxiety, abruptness, and jumping to conclusions. Claiming victory before the results are entirely in will be more tempting than usual. We are most likely to see reversals. It might look as if one candidate has won until it doesn’t. This will of course lead to rash accusations. With the Full Blood Moon lunar eclipse at 16 degrees of Taurus something ends. For Taureans or those with strong Taurus placements there may be dramatic endings or realizations.

We have a grouping in Taurus opposing another in Scorpio, both T squared by Saturn in Aquarius. It doesn’t require astrology to tell us that this election will be impacted by all manner of manipulations and propaganda. The division in the country will be vividly on display again. It looks doubtful that we will really have clear outcomes on election day. This week is a seesaw of one side gaining or claiming advantage, only to be contradicted as events unfold. Perhaps the Venus sextile Pluto at the beginning of the following week bodes well for outcomes favorable to women and young people.

Wed Nov 9 about an hour after noon sun opposition Uranus is exact. More jumping to conclusions. Here sheer ego takes over and because we say it is so it is so. However there are such things as facts as the evening’s exact Mercury square Saturn will remind us. Mercury joins Venus as the focus of the ongoing Saturn square Uranus. This too could indicate the impact of younger people voting in greater numbers. In our own lives a good time to keep in mind this quote from Descartes, “Divide each difficulty into as many parts as is feasible and necessary to resolve it.”

Thu Nov 10 Venus trine Neptune is exact in the very early morning. Could this indicate that a wave of votes by women and their allies will change the tone of the times? Do try to take time to be inspired by beauty and harmony this week. It will help you regenerate amid what are about to be stressful headlines. Do everything you can to get the facts and the votes. Try not to waste time in arguments, online or otherwise. We should be looking for new approaches and common ground. Unity is an ideal that seems farfetched these days but we’ve never needed it more. As Bahá’u’lláh wrote, “So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.”

Fri Nov 11 sun square Saturn is exact four minutes after midnight. This can indicate depression and exhaustion. Could this indicate for example that the progressive optimism of Venus trine Neptune is offset by conservative actions. or could it be the news that seesaws as events unfold over election week. In the evening Venus inconjunct Mars is exact, perhaps indicating that the conflict between those who support women’s rights and those who prefer patriarchy is at a stalemate.

Sat Nov 12 Mercury trine Neptune is exact in the late morning. Neptune can indicate confusion, lies, inebriation but it can also indicate mystical epiphanies, deep meditation, compassion, and detachment. This trine can indicate inspiration, creative imagination, healing conversations or enlightening reading. As it supports Venus maybe this is good news about the next two years for those who would prefer not to have religious fanatics, and those who manipulate them, in charge of more of the government. But of course this conflict is likely to continue into the next presidential election.

Sun Nov 13 Venus sextile Pluto is exact in the wee hours. Pluto can indicate real transformation, also healing in matters associated with Venus. Tempting to predict that women will show their power in this election. However that Mars Neptune square, with both planets retrograde, can indicate ruthless use of propaganda and deception to delay and even reverse reality, Neptune’s specialty. Due to the Mars station this is an unusually long lasting Mars square. Early morning, Mercury inconjunct Mars is exact. The media goes one way and the patriarchy another. It seems they shall never meet.

All part of the ongoing U.S. Pluto return square Eris. One could oversimplify and describe this as what happens when a country that has always been dominated by white patriarchy sees a future when white people are a minority and women refuse to be disempowered. One could also describe this a generational shift. Many older people support the Republican agenda, and the Jan 6 mob were hardly spring chickens. Young people poll with far more progressive attitudes.

Folks, when Trump and Biden were twenty years old Adam West debuted as Batman on TV and the term “mini skirt” was coined. Twenty year olds today were six years old when Obama was elected. Consider the differences in technology. When our current and former president were about ten years old black and white portable TV sets were the hot new invention. Today’s twenty year olds were ten in a world where five billion people were online. It’s not surprising these two generations find themselves with opposing viewpoints. Since this is the last Saturn square Uranus of this decade, and since it is the job of Uranus to force Saturn to let go and except change, even if this election disappoints women and young people it will set the foundations for the inevitable shift of the gear of generations that will unfold over the next twenty years of Pluto in Aquarius. The kids who grew up in a digital environment will soon have their time.

Here’s what Liz Greene wrote about Aquarius. Pretend she’s addressing the next two decades: “You are progressive in your thinking, which is reflected in every aspect of your life. You do not like being told how to live your life.” The last time Pluto was in Aquarius the American Revolution was being fought, the founding fathers signed the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution enthroned reason for better and worse. Mary Wollstoncraft published The Vindication of the Rights of Women; she was only one of many women doing work that set the foundations for future generations. And the French Revolution. It doesn’t seem like the Saturnian patriarchal system will be able to stand much longer. And of course Pluto is often the reaper and so it is appropriate that Saturn’s creation reach the beginning of its end as Pluto reaches the end of Capricorn. It seems the Saturnine must make way for the Uranian: human rights, the revolution and omnipresence of new technology, and the celebration of diversity.
