All Times Pacific: Astrology Report Sep 18–26
Friends, we have before us a week that could bring rare opportunities for resolution of disagreements. As we have seen poor Venus has suffered an onslaught of difficult aspects over the last two weeks. But this week the planets join in an optimistic display of potential harmony. Saturday’s Mars sextile Chiron is with us all week indicating the possibility of healing conflicts, even wars. However we must keep in mind that we are in the dark of the moon with Mercury retrograde, Saturn square Uranus gaining strength daily, and Saturn and Pluto stations ahead in October. The good may be delayed, or initially reversed. We can be sure that as long as Pluto abides in Capricorn patience will be a necessary virtue. Pluto in Aquarius first arrives in 2023 but Capricorn in Pluto will still rule parts of 2024. Perhaps you can already see hints of right actions bearing fruit and chickens coming home to roost.
Sunday Sep 18 Mercury opposition Jupiter is exact mid-afternoon. Just before 9 PM sun trine Pluto is exact. The first can be over-optimistic and over-indulgent but given the other aspects this week it adds the potential for resolutions of conflict. Sun trine Pluto can bring necessary reforms and repairs before they become disastrously critical. Take a deep look at your daily life. Look for possible improvements, of course, but also take a look at the impact you have on those around you. If it’s not what you were intending this aspect can help you do some research. And keep in mind the wisdom of Laozi: “Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”
Monday Sep 19 Venus trine Uranus is exact in the late evening, this aspect of liberation and adventurous art and romance, the cutting edge of technology and creativity, can also indicate unexpected agreements and understandings. If art and romance have become stagnant this aspect may shake things up in unexpected ways. But be careful, as Venus inconjunct Saturn follows quickly and could indicate consequences to health and well-being. Also, with Uranus involved, and Mercury retrograde, expect the unexpected.
Tue Sep 20 Venus inconjunct Saturn in the early afternoon can indicate breakdowns in relationships caused by severity, or lack of affection. Almost everyone faces frustrating and frightening challenges as Pluto in Capricorn winds up (a long process). Survival mode can easily erode the graces and virtues. Don’t doggedly press forward barking at those you love. It is here in the midst of inhospitable times that gentleness, consideration, and affection are most needed. Don’t get caught up in helping and protecting without remembering to provide emotional as well as tactical support. With this aspect the outcome of allowing these stress reactions could be detrimental to well being. Exhaustion and self starvation can exasperate the problem. Perhaps make food before reorganizing the kitchen drawers. Get lots of rest. Eat well. If you want to fast do so consciously. It’s no easy task to have grace under pressure, as Andre Gide wrote, “It is easier to lead men to combat, stirring up their passion, than to restrain them and direct them toward the patient labors of peace.”
Wed Sep 21 only lunar aspects are exact, and we pretty much all have PTSD. A good quote to keep in mind over the next two weeks from Laozi: “Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”
Thu Sep 22 the sun enters Libra just after 6 PM and conjuncts Mercury ten minutes before midnight, two diplomatic placements that make it easier to see both sides of issues, and let’s face it, Libra ruled by Venus is less abrasive than Virgo, and Mercury returns to Virgo tomorrow. Use this day wisely. Keep in mind what Petrarch wrote, “Five enemies of peace inhabit with us — avarice, ambition, envy, anger, and pride; if these were to be banished, we should infallibly enjoy perpetual peace.”
Fri Sep 23 Mercury retrogrades into Virgo before dawn bringing a more analytic perspective that could throw cold water on the good developments in progress, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are extinguished. Get organized. Write it down. Draw a diagram of how it works. Instead of allowing Mercury in Virgo to make harsh words more pointed practice the restraint and good manners of a Virgo on their best behavior.
Sat Sep 24 Venus opposition Neptune is exact just before 2 AM, on the negative side a warning about delusion and deliberate deception in creativity, finances and art. Yet it can also indicate compassion, a surrender to the harmony of the greater good. Take care not to over-indulge in intoxicants or other forms of escapism. For the creative this week is a time for inspiration, not editing. As Pablo Neruda wrote, “Peace goes into the making of a poem as flour goes into the making of bread.”
Sun Sep 25 the new moon in Libra arrives providing a push for the good possibilities glimpsed earlier in the week. With sun and moon conjunct in Libra once again diplomacy and agreements are emphasized. Enjoy music, art, romance and things could get intense as Venus trine Pluto is exact today. This aspect can transform art and romance by way of intensity and of exploring the shadow. Agreements that change everything could be a title for the positive potential of this aspect.
Mon Sep 26 Mercury conjunct Venus is exact a minute before 11 AM, another diplomatic and potentially romantic aspect, great for enjoying or creating writing and music. About 12:30 PM sun opposition Jupiter is exact, another warning of the urge to over do just about everything, especially in the name of success or simply having a good time. Yet it can indicate a spirit of good will that could unexpectedly resolves problems. Can you see the coyote?
With Mercury trine Pluto and Mars trine Saturn on Tue Sep 27 and Venus entering Libra Thu Sep 29 with Venus opposition Jupiter Sat Oct 1, followed by Mercury direct Oct 2, we see this rare alignment of aspects with the potential for creating peace and resolution of long term problems continues into the following week. Don’t let the relentless stress of the last few years cause you to miss this two week window of opportunities to change the world for the better. As Norman Vincent Peale wrote, “Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.”
