Today Venus leaves romantic but stubborn Libra entering Virgo @9:05 PM. This is a fussier Venus, given to over-analysis, and possibly offended when expectations are not met. In art and romance being thoughtful and thorough will serve better than worry, or wondering what others are thinking, which is a common Virgo hobby. Virgo is an earth sign. The right food, a clean and pleasing environment, and polite conversation can lead to progress, though the temptation may be to criticize others or to list grievances. Apply perfectionism sparingly when dealing with self or others. As Virginia Woolf wrote, “The eyes of others our prisons; their thoughts our cages.”

Labor Day Sep 5 and Tue Sep 6 only lunar aspects are exact.

Wed Sep 7 sun inconjunct Chiron is exact. Inconjunctions indicate frustrations when trying to balance out two areas of life. With this aspect the ego is involved on the one hand, and on the other the possibility of some sort of crisis that may require attention so that problems can be avoided. Pay attention to what you notice about how you feel. Sometimes the confusion that may occur during this aspect can lead us to unexpected sources of healing.

Thu Sep 8 only lunar aspects are exact. A good quote for this week, by Yogananda, “Freedom means the power to act by soul guidance, not by the compulsions of desires and habits. Obeying the ego leads to bondage; obeying the soul brings liberation.”

Fri Sep 9 Venus inconjunct Jupiter is exact. Also Mercury is stationary retrograde at 8:38 PM through Oct 1. The first can indicate over-optimism that leads to troubles in romance and creativity. Over-indulgence can also have more sour consequences than usual. But it may also be that we feel frustrated by the lack of beauty, harmony, success, or prosperity in our lives. We may feel stymied when we try to find ways to have them. Start small. Cultivate small victories and simple pleasures. Mercury retrograde is nothing to be afraid of. Allow time for introversion. Look back over what you’ve accomplished and haven’t accomplished. Are you headed in the right direction? Finish work in progress with a willingness to see deeper issues. Go back over old ground. Identify and fix areas that require reform and repair. Enjoy the unexpected boons of delays and detours. As Bodhidharma said, “Freeing oneself from words is liberation.”

Sat Sep 10 the full moon in Pisces arrives one minute before 3 AM. The Pisces full moon tends to be emotional and nostalgic, with an urge for intoxication and fantasy. However when the moon enters Aries about a quarter to midnight the mood may become more energetic and impulsive.

Sun Sep 11 sun trine Uranus is exact around dawn. This can be a liberating aspect, indicating surprises and realizations. For some this could be an exciting weekend. Could new tech, or an unexpected perspective, help you liberate your daily life and freedom of expression? What areas of your life need to be refreshed? Nietzsche wrote: “He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.” How is your “why” doing? Does it need an update?

Mon Sep 12 sun inconjunct Saturn continues the disjointed series of inconjunctions this week. Health issues and other frustrating circumstances may reveal weak areas. This particular inconjunction can indicate exhaustion, pessimism, suppression, isolation or depletion. Be sure to get rest and eat well. Pandemic issues continue to bubble up in the news while the numbers have dropped during the heat waves. Fall is right ahead and in the past that has meant a surge. It’s advisable to continue to take precautions, however you define them. As I’ve been pointing out Saturn square Uranus is getting stronger every day this month. We may see echoes of 2021 in the pandemic, economic swings, supply chain issues, and continued political hostility between parties and especially their fanatic minorities. By respecting Saturn and Uranus in our lives we can get the best our of this challenging aspect. Having both the ability to be patient and the willingness to try new approaches, knowing when to stop, and where freedom has opened a door, we can find a rhythm and interact with life instead of reacting.

Pluto’s first entrance into Aquarius in about 250 years is about seven months away. The last Pluto shift we had was 2008 as it entered Capricorn with a frightening swoon of the world markets. It will not be the same scenario, Pluto in Aquarius promises breakthroughs in science and technology, greater transparency, the sense of the dawn of 21st century cultural context as distinct from the echoes of the 20th that still dominate. In short, we will see the world invent and innovate in response to the terrible challenges Pluto in Capricorn has made so vivid.

As James Baldwin wrote, “Nothing is more desirable than to be released from an affliction, but nothing is more frightening than to be divested of a crutch.” Individuals face that challenge as we test the waters on emerging from pandemic to endemic. But it also describes the tension regarding institutions and energy supplies, the weather and water, we count on, and the emergence of new potential solutions some of which are somewhat unproven. It’s always helpful to learn from the past, and to cherish who or what deserves to be remembered, and contemplating the future can be useful, but we can get lost in the past and future. The present is where we can find liberation, and encounter and contribute to the good, the true, and the beautiful.
