Friends, we have before us a week that begins with the last of the unusual number of inconjunctions that made last week rather challenging. But this week ends with a bang as midweek Uranus is stationary retrograde followed by Mercury and Mars trining Uranus. It’s an awkward pivot. The fourteen inconjunctions mentioned in last week’s report end Wednesday with inconjunctions of Mars and Mercury to Chiron. These aspects begin to fade but are still with us for a bit, especially the difficult Mars inconjunct Saturn in orb until Aug 22, so difficulties regarding health, and incongruent priorities, may still be frustrating. Uranus brings shocks, surprises, liberation, unexpected arrivals, the future effacing the past in a flash. This could indicate that the push toward freedom is reversed, suggesting more mandates ahead.

With Saturn and Pluto stationary direct within four days of each other in early October it seems likely that the fall will bring a significant surge. There is a chance that between infections among the unvaccinated and increasing numbers of the vaccinated that one of these stations might indicate a turning point for the better. But as the pressure of Saturn and Pluto slowing down to retrograde builds throughout September there may be another frightening chapter in the pandemic story to be written.

Tonight Aug 15 just before 9:30 PM all times Pacific Venus will leave Virgo for Libra. This is a much more comfortable placement for Venus as Virgo can be too fussy and mental to enjoy the full spectrum of Venus. Venus in Libra emphasizes romance, the arts, finding balance, diplomacy, and partnerships. Taureans and Librans may feel a sense of relief as their ruling planet leaves nervous Virgo for artistic Libra.

Monday Aug 16 Mercury inconjunct Saturn is exact. Mental exhaustion, worrying about having too much responsibility, depression causing poor communication and other unnecessary difficulties, are some of the possible themes. Not a great day for schools to resume, suggesting that they may not stay open through fall. A gloomy perspective may cause indecision. Patience and caution are favored.

Tue Aug 17 sun inconjunct Pluto is exact in the early morning. More challenges regarding health. More bad news about the pandemic seems likely. Perhaps these inconjunctions may give us a glimpse into how the Saturn and Pluto stations of October might play out. In our personal lives the trick is to make room for apparently disconnected demands on our attention. If you’re having specific physical difficulties find ways to address them. Pay attention to good dietary habits. Get some rest. Enjoy some fresh air. Find ways to turn weaknesses into strengths. But proceed gently. Practice all precautions and avoid unnecessary risks.

Wed Aug 18 Mars inconjunct Chiron is exact in the morning. The urgency of ambition, anger, libido cause actions that can compromise health so be extra careful if those urges are driving your decisions. With Mercury also inconjunct Chiron today the urge to socialize will most likely further the crisis leading to restrictions on social behavior. Anger is rarely good for health, but with this Mars aspect it can be especially harmful. Instead put that energy into healing yourself or helping others heal. Mercury inconjunct Chiron reinforces the probability of some kind of news regarding the pandemic. It may take a few weeks before we see the results of all these inconjunctions over the last ten days.

Also Wed Mercury conjunct Mars is exact. With both Mercury and Mars about to trine stationary Uranus this is an unusually powerful Mercury Mars conjunction. For creative people, especially for those whose work involves language and dexterity this can be a time of brilliant work, even genius. However this aspect can also indicate a particularly irritable and argumentative interlude in human affairs. With Uranus involved blurted comments may cause disruptions and arguments that could escalate into unexpected acting out.

Thu Aug 19 sun opposition Jupiter is exact. With this aspect over-optimism can be risky. Avoid over-indulgence, over-spending, and the arrogance of false certainty. This can be an enjoyable aspect, optimistic and sociable, but oppositions require that we pay attention to how others feel about what we’re doing. Don’t try to push your way. Cooperation is key. However frustrating and gloomy things may appear as the suspense of the pandemic continues don’t lost touch with this insight so well described by Plotinus: “The world is knowable, harmonious, and good.”

Also Thu Uranus is stationary retrograde just before 6 PM. The unexpected may occur, but since Uranus occupies the degree of its station well into October the unexpected may not occur right away. In our individual lives it’s a good time to find ways to liberate ourselves from outdated tech, worn out perspectives, and useless or harmful habits. Be open to new ways of doing things. Try a different approach.

Fri Aug 20 Mercury trine Uranus is exact about an hour after midnight. This aspect is wonderful for writing, astrology, communications, finding freedom by using new technology. It’s a good time to think about the future and to research and communicate about how to improve it. The only warning: the desire to break free, to do what you want, to socialize without restrictions, may have negative impact on the pandemic situation. Let technology be your friend and avoid harm whenever possible no matter how fancy free you might be feeling.

Saturday Aug 21 Mars trine Uranus is exact, another powerfully liberating aspect that can help us update ambition and libido, helping us find more freedom as we take action in the world. But again this desire to take action without restrictions could lead to bad consequences where the pandemic is concerned. the feeling among may be that this will be their last chance to have a fun time before things get worse. What would you like your future to be? What actions could you take now to help make that happen? But don’t move forcefully. With Uranus stationary things may get weird.

Sunday Aug 22 the full moon in the 29th degree of Aquarius arrives just after 5 AM, a very sociable placement that will put many in the mood for festivals and other crowded events. Take all necessary precautions. Why take risks when the consequences can be so drastic for self and others? Find new ways to have fun and to feel free.

Monday Aug 23 Venus trine Saturn is exact helping us to have a good time within necessary limits. An excellent time for editing writing and other creative work. Relationships may require displays of loyalty, but also a willingness to give space where its needed. A good aspect for learning and practicing the arts, or for learning about them.

What we need most these days is patience. Ponder this quote by Plotinus: “Withdraw into yourself and look. And if you do not find yourself beautiful yet, act as does the creator of a statue that is to be made beautiful: he cuts away here, he smooths there, he makes this line lighter, this other purer, until a lovely face has grown from his work. So do you also: cut away all that is excessive, straighten all that is crooked, bring light to all that is overcast, labor to make all one glow of beauty and never cease chiseling your statue, until there shall shine out on you from it the godlike splendor of virtue, until you see the perfect goodness surely established in the stainless shrine.”
