Saturn and the Last Half of 2020

Saturn has returned to Capricorn. Beware the delusion of false certainty. Groups coalescing around videos and memes represent hot spots of false certainty. Often these groups argue amongst themselves over their differing theories, while actively seeking to convert recruits to their points of view. What relief they find in pursuing each new fact and expert, while dismissing those of differing views.

The truth is all we have is doubt and suspense. We don’t know how trustworthy the statistics or the tests are. We don’t know how well they are being interpreted. We don’t know exactly what is going on out there. Our minds with insatiable hunger grab for the latest feed to support our perspective and refute all others. But we are all are living in suspense. No matter what tricks our brains play we don’t know exactly what is happening. We don’t know what will happen. That is a big part of the lesson that Saturn is teaching us.

Can you find a way to enjoy the day? The simple chores that prevent harm, the charming repetition, the familiar faces and surroundings. Can you find beauty, a fondness for life, in the midst of all the noise out there? Can you imagine looking back and wishing that you had appreciated the time more? Will all the theories and speculation, no matter how believable, or the arguments, or condemnations ranted online, make better memories than learning something new, or facing the great unknown and being humbled into appreciation?

In Fall, when Saturn turns stationary direct, along with Pluto doing the same, at least they will be one degree apart rather than exactly conjunct as they were in January to commence the pandemic. But it could mean a return to the bigger lockdown of Spring 2020 is on the way. With such heavy Pluto and Saturn influence there’s bound to be a scare of some sort, the specter of doom. The small chance that it might indicate an end to the debacle must be mentioned, but more likely after that point there may be a slow relief from this particular crisis, if not its consequences.

Saturn and Pluto can help us achieve real healing if we can heal our traumas, and change our harmful habits, including constantly imagining apocalyptic culture wars. Focus on the immediate. Pluto can indicate the tranquility that follows repair and rebirth. Saturn can bring awards for lessons learned, and the patience and discipline to achieve difficult goals. Society and each of us as individuals are asked to wrestle with our fears, to face our shadows, to realize how precious a healthy day with loved ones can be.
