All times Pacific.
Friends, last week Mars gave us a look at how Saturn sextile Uranus is playing out individually and collectively. This week Venus will do the same. We also have Mercury and Venus going direct. However a shadow is cast on this week’s otherwise helpful aspects by Saturn conjunct Neptune drawing nearer to conjunction, indicating the possibility of depression (emotional and economic), crisis concerning water, problems with intoxication, facts confronting propaganda, restricted charity, debilitating delusions, the dissolving of familiar sources of security and yet also a time for bringing soulfulness to our actions, for capturing inspiration in practical ways, and for meditation, yoga and other methods of attaining stability and tranquility. Dwell on appreciation for a moment or two every day. What do you appreciate and to whom do you feel thankful?
Times like this when we confront hardships, feelings of helplessness as we are those we cherish are seized by traumatic circumstances, these times when what we have held onto breaks apart or is pulled away from us by inevitable tides of change, these times offer us a rare opportunity to practice charity, patience, focus, equanimity, poise, and most of all love. By relaxing away from preconceptions, especially those spun by every news source we see from the administration to the media to the meme makers and the admins and bots of social media groups, we can make more room in our lives for healthy routines.
Research and reach out for support where and when needed. Stay alert. Take action. Find ways to make your voice heard. Don’t let all your energy get swallowed by the maelstrom of current events and reactions to them. Be a point of spiritual stability in the confusion. If you are an artist, writer, filmmaker, musician express what we’re all going through. Culture is the driving force of social evolution and countercultures are the essential and natural reaction to any kind of autocracy.
4/14 Mars opposition Pluto will become more evident in our lives and in the news. It will be exact 4/28–4/29 and then will fade out the second week of May at long last. We’ve been dealing with this opposition since last October, an unusually long duration for this volatile aspect. It indicates an elevated level of aggression, anxiety and reactivity in the collective atmosphere. As it intensifies this month we have the potential for increasing hostility, road rage, arguments, outbreaks of violence, acts of war. In our personal lives whenever possible we can avoid hostile people and areas where criminality or dysfunctional authority might confront us. Avoid vengeful or anxious preoccupations, they’re not good for your body.
Unfortunately this aspect along with Saturn conjunct Neptune could indicate a pandemic. We have several concerning situations ongoing. Stay alert. Find your comfort level. If it doesn’t feel safe this would be a good time to avoid it. If you’ve been neglecting areas that require attention there may be consequences sooner than later. On the other hand we are given great energy and power to stand up for our rights, to make necessary repairs and reforms, to express desires in deeply transformative ways, and our ambitions in ways that serve a greater good.
Monday 4/7 Venus conjunct Saturn is exact just after 4 AM. Mercury is stationary direct seven minutes later. Venus sextile Uranus is exact in the evening. This week Venus gives us a look at how Saturn sextile Uranus will play out in our lives individually and collectively. Issues involving women, music, the arts, fashion, finance and all things Venusian can benefit from simplifying and liberating stagnant aspects of ourselves and our lives. It’s time to update while keeping what works, to find balance between tradition and innovation, habit and the unexpected. Look for ways to harmonize Venus and Saturn. Get back to basics. Be loyal. Give those you cherish the space they need. Mentor or find a mentor in the arts. Get serious about a romance or end one. Contemplate what love has meant to you in the past and what it will mean in the future. This can also indicate a significant step forward for a new generation of female leaders and of artists and other culture creators.
Tue 4/8, Wed 4/9, Thu 4/10 and Fri 4/11 only lunar aspects are exact. Maaza Mengiste wrote: “Make living your act of defiance. Record it all.
Sat 4/12 sun conjunct Chiron is exact in the morning. Chiron can indicate healing through crisis. A good time to pay attention to health. Don’t ignore signals your body may send you today about areas requiring attention. These subtle signs can help us avoid trouble down the line if we adjust our habits and improve our emotional lives. This could be a romantic weekend with full moon in Libra at 5:22 AM and Venus stationary direct at 6:02 PM. A great time for the arts, especially in creative collaboration with others.
When Ficino said: “The whole power of magic consists in love” he gave us a key to not just surviving but potentially flourishing during times likes these. The solutions to the problems we see multiplying around us will be most effective if motivated by love. The scientist in the lab laboring to alleviate the suffering of sickness and their families. The writer working on the book that will change the world. The artist leaving a legacy that will last a thousand years for love of the beauty and irony of life. How can we awaken love in our own hearts, in our lives, and make it the guiding star and driving motivation of our excellence and our optimism about the future? How can we invite love to transform our lives and the world through the work of our hands, our minds, our words and our actions?
Sun 4/13 only lunar aspects are exact. “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” Jimi Hendrix
