All times Pacific.

Friends we have before us a roller coaster of so called good and bad aspects. Keep in mind that good aspects can indicate bad experiences if we try to force, or cling to, happiness. Bad aspects can indicate opportunities for hard work, self discovery, achievement, the art of making weaknesses into strengths. Our choices and ability to understand lessons life teaches us are major factors in determining where we find ourselves along the spectrum of experience each aspect symbolizes. How is this miraculous correlation achieved? Subtle cosmic rays from the planets that manipulate our fates? More like quantum entanglement, as Plotinus said: “Everything breathes together.” Our lives are like mandalas that our uniquely our own, each element a symbol only we can understand. Only we can see the vast patterns of the themes of our lives.

Monday 10/28 Mars trine Neptune is exact before dawn then Venus square Saturn is exact near dawn. The trine can bring compassion to ambition, romance to attraction, and gives energy to works of imagination, to charity but also to escapism and intoxication. Action guided by intuition may be more effective now. The square can put a chill into romance, creativity, or even the simple pleasures of life, perhaps due to exhaustion or discouragement. To oversimplify, many men may be drawn to escapism and fantasies of cultural retribution while many women worry and work hard against the odds. In our own lives we can use Neptune’s insights to help us more effectively use the energy Mars gives us. We can study, practice, rest, meditate, work hard, simplify, be patient, give others space, show loyalty. We can remind ourselves of the love, beauty, and harmony, and the good times of our lives. There will be more of them.

Tue 10/29 only lunar aspects are exact. Johannes Trithemius wrote: “Speak of things public to the public, but of things lofty and secret only to the loftiest and most private of your friends. Hay to the ox and sugar to the parrot.” As of today Saturn dwells in the degree of its station which will be exact on 11/15. Saturn will dwell here until 12/4. Now sometimes Saturn stations can indicate great rewards and advancement to greater responsibility, especially when lessons have been learned. Energy can be low, there can be depressed emotions, a feeling of stagnation. But this too shall pass. With Pluto also stationary we have here an echo of the Saturn Pluto conjunction of 2020 associated with the pandemic. We could see news of some sort about a related subject. Once Pluto moves out of its degree of station on 11/19 the intensity subsides. Saturn and Pluto remind us of the importance and power of meditation.

Wed 10/30 Mercury opposition Uranus is exact mid-afternoon. This can be a nervous aspect, urgent and anxious, but also brilliantly perceptive. Communications can suddenly clarify and solve issues or they can shock us with unexpected challenges or revelations. Take a little extra care when communicating. Don’t jump to conclusions and don’t try to push the river. With Pluto dwelling in the degree of its station until 11/19 the sense of apprehension of the masses may not be an easy wave to surf for those sensitive to collective emotions. Amuse your mind with a source of inspiration.

Thu 10/31 Halloween features Mercury trine Neptune which could make it an especially memorable night somewhere on the spectrum between fantasy and intoxication. But Mercury opposition Uranus is still going on so watch out for erratic behavior, blurted secrets, and unexpected detours. Go for that great costume. Get swept away in a surprising but inspiring conversation. But avoid taking unnecessary risks. Pluto and Saturn dwell in the degree of their stations and consequences have a way of becoming more intense during Pluto and Saturn stations. Weigh the risks and rewards and find your comfort level.

Fri 11/1 the new moon in Scorpio arrives at 5:47 AM emphasizing the Pluto station. This is a good time for doing shadow work and other forms of self improvement including mystical pursuits. Of the shadow Jung write: “Man is, on the whole, less good than he imagines himself or wants to be. Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the darker and denser it is.”

Sat 11/2 is one of the busiest days of the year, astrologically speaking. Jupiter trine Chiron is exact about an hour after midnight indicating that much of November is a good time for healing. Optimism may have healing effects during this trine, so dare to be optimistic. Chiron can indicate healing through collective crisis. Of course, this is more than appropriate given the election three days away when this aspect will still be more or less exact. An opportunity for a crisis that ultimately heals a problem in government. Mercury sextile Pluto is exact in the morning marking the beginning of this week as a time for research, therapy, repairs, deep conversations, and working on improving the contents of our “thought chambers.” Mercury leaves obsessive Scorpio for active and optimistic Sagittarius at 12:18 PM. Don’t be surprised if you find you want to take a trip to some natural setting or that you simply must hang out with friends or family.

Sun 11/3 Mars opposition Pluto is exact during the witching hour between 3 and 4 AM. This opposition is with us all the way into early January due to a Mars station in the not too distant future. It can indicate dramatic moments of violence, acts of terror, but also more humble breakdowns that require reform or repair. Drive carefully. Avoid confrontations. Don’t let simple disagreements escalate into battle royales. This aspect can indicate tremendous energy for healing and for reforming ourselves and society. but given the current political climate expect belligerence just beneath the surface of many. Propaganda of every kind will reach a fever pitch. Russian fake photos of torn up ballots are currently viral in the alternate universe. Not long after dawn Venus opposition Jupiter is exact followed by Venus trine Chiron exact about an hour later. The opposition can be overly optimistic and can overdo in all sorts of ways involving pleasure, romance, and art. But it also indicates opportunities for love and creativity, for the appreciation of harmony and beauty. The trine makes love, art, beauty and harmony especially powerful ways to heal ourselves and others. This aspect will still be with us on Election Day, and could suggest an event that heals many women as a collective.

Finally also on Sunday Mars leaves Cancer, an uncomfortable placement, for Leo, restoring a sense of greater vitality. However Mars in Leo can be combative and there is the potential for more incremental steps toward wider war, perhaps the first North Korean casualties in the war in Ukraine. We can expect much posturing by male supremacists whatever the outcome of this election. But Pluto’s mission, as it were, in this opposition is to evolve Mars. Opportunities to open new horizons for Mars. The harder Mars fights against Pluto the more brutal the consequences Pluto indicates. This holds true in our own lives, too. Don’t try to force things. Explore gently. Be a little extra cautious. Spend time pondering your ambitions, your desires, and where you may need to defend your boundaries.

Mon 11/4 sun trine Saturn indicates a time when we can get organized or at least pace ourselves. Don’t take on too much. Saturn is slowing down to stationary direct soon. It should be clear where there are weaknesses in our lives that require attention. Eat for health, not to alleviate stress. The more we pace ourselves, practice patience, and learn, the more we prepare ourselves for whatever comes next, good or bad.

Tue 11/5 Election Day only lunar aspects are exact. Wilma Mankiller wrote: “Prior to my election, young Cherokee girls would never have thought that they might grow up and become chief.” It’s not an easy election to call astrologically speaking. Both candidates have strong transits and challenging ones. As I pointed out just before the presidential debate Kamala Harris’s natal Pluto squares the Trump’s Uranus. Her Saturn squares his Mars. His political career has been all about shock (Uranus) and male aggression (Mars). Her Pluto and Saturn control his Uranus and Mars. I did ask the Yi Jing about the result of the election. I’ve found it very accurate in all sorts of situations but have not tried it for an election until now. It said the “little sister” would prevail. Sounds like the vice president. This is an experiment. Let’s see how it turns out.

Wed 11/6 only lunar aspects are exact. Mark Twain wrote: “Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself.”

Thu 11/7 Venus inconjunct Uranus is exact in the early evening. This could indicate a shock to women and their supporters, but what kind of shock? A stolen election? A new unexpected challenge to electoral results? Or is it simply misinformation? If we are still waiting for the official result of the election, which is possible, such a delay would seem to indicate a nervous time for women and all creatures and allies of Venus. But we shouldn’t jump to conclusions with inconjunctions. If the election results are clear they will nevertheless be challenged as if they are not. Whoever wins half the voters will be outraged.

Fri 11/8 only lunar aspects are exact. Marsilio Ficino wrote: “Books that distribute things — with as daring a freedom as we use in dreams, put us on our feet again.”

Sat 11/9 Venus square Neptune is exact before dawn another aspect that could indicate propaganda and misinformation deployed against women. Mars opposing Pluto drives that sense of urgency and hostility, especially among men, who are ruled by Mars. Be supportive to the women you love, and to all people and matters of Venus.

Sunday 11/10 only lunar aspects are exact. Patti Smith wrote: “When I was a child, I was certain that I could remember what it was like to live on Venus; I could remember what it was like to live in the American Plains. I could remember. And it’s ancient memory. We all have it. It’s just that some of us access it more than others.”

Saturn is slowing down to stationary direct 11/15 on the day of the Taurus full moon that is exactly conjunct Kamala Harris’s natal Jupiter but also Donald Trump’s mid-heaven. Since Mars opposition Pluto will be in effect into early January it is possible we’ll be in a period of conflict, threats, legal actions and perhaps protests up to the anniversary of January 6 and perhaps all the way to inauguration.

Pluto finally leaves the degree of its station on 11/19 entering Aquarius where it will stay for almost twenty years. This election is only the first of many events that will bring our society more truly into the 21st century. We’re leaving behind sixteen years of Pluto in Capricorn which historically has indicated bleak periods, hopeless challenges, the feeling of end times. 11/19 Pluto in Capricorn is gone for good, at least for the generations currently living. New and exciting vistas will open. Today’s monsters will fade into obscurity. New generations will make the world anew.
