Friends, we have a bit of a roller coaster of a week ahead of us, astrologically speaking. We begin with a flurry of optimistic aspects but by the end of the week the star weather looks stormy. What we want to avoid is false optimism followed by disappointment. We could overdo things in a way that leads to consequences such as exhaustion or sickness. We may become fixated on conflict, and so we consider it ethical to suffer, and to inflict suffering on others. Open the door to change the first half of this week. Consider it a beginning, a good start, a shift to a new view, or a vacation from stress.

Sunday 6/2 Jupiter trine Pluto retrograde is exact in the late afternoon followed by Mercury sextile Neptune. This is a powerful trine individually and collectively. It asks us to face up to our shadows related to success, spirituality, education, and optimism. We can update our definitions of success. We can share our successes in ways that transform society. With Jupiter in Gemini it’s important to resist the temptation of beneficial disagreements that cause stagnation to preserve an unfavorable but familiar status quo. We might distract ourselves with superficial interests rather than face the deep self reflection Pluto requires for healing and reform. Here’s a topic for conversation. How can we change the world? How can we bring new ideas and inclusive perspectives to our own lives and to a culture tangled up in divisions?

Mon 6/3 Mercury follows Jupiter into Gemini. While Jupiter is considered afflicted in Gemini, Mercury rules Gemini. Look for opportunities. Communicate. With Mercury activating Jupiter trine Pluto this is a time of rare opportunity for healing, ambitious reforms, spiritual devotion, and the kind of prosperity that lifts not just individuals but communities. Creative people, especially writers and other communicators, this is your time to shine. Mercury trine Pluto retrograde is exact in the late evening, making the early half of this week a great time for research, deep conversations, healing, reforms and repairs. Life changing insights are possible. Andre Maurois wrote: “A happy marriage is a long conversation which always seems too short.”

Tue 6/4 Mercury conjunct Jupiter is exact during the witching hour. Then sun conjunct Venus is exact in the morning. This could be creative, fun, optimistic time as Mercury helps us find and understand where Jupiter wants to bring the antidote to too much Saturn to our lives. It’s all part of the project to leave the chrysalis of Pluto in Capricorn, though we’re still in for about ten weeks of it in fall. Dare to be optimistic. Talk with someone who can help you succeed. Writers, this is golden time. Sun conjunct Venus is a hot Venus, brightly reflecting the light of the sun, and with Mercury conjunct Jupiter the same day a rare example of two beautiful and complimentary aspects within hours of each other. Love, laughter, creativity, the joy of life can be ours, and these aspects suggest it may be good for us to appreciate this opportunity to give our bodies relief from constant stress.

Wed 6/5 only lunar aspects are exact. Pessoa wrote: “I read and am liberated. I acquire objectivity. I cease being myself and so scattered. And what I read, instead of being like a nearly invisible suit that sometimes oppresses me, is the external world’s tremendous and remarkable clarity, the sun that sees everyone — “

Thu 6/6 the new moon in Gemini arrives at 5:38 AM adding to the mercurial atmosphere but the weather is rapidly changing. Finish up communications from earlier in the week and then take it easy. Three big squares are just ahead. Square are like steps. They require effort, they can be irritating, if we ignore them we can fall.

Fri 6/7 only lunar aspects are exact. Guy Debord also wrote: “Behind the masks of total choice, different forms of the same alienation confront each other.”

Sat 6/8 Venus square Saturn is exact about ninety minutes after midnight. This would not appear to be a good night for romance. Exhaustion is possible. A good time for organizing and editing creative work, for demonstrating loyalty and respect for boundaries in relationships. A good time for study and practice of the arts. Mars enters Taurus at 9:35 PM until 7/21 suggesting an atmosphere of sensuality in romance, a slow fuse but sudden explosion where anger issues arise, and a good time for activities in nature.

Sun 6/9 sun square Saturn is exact during the witching hour, amplifying this weekend’s theme of limitations, possibly pessimism, and a need for rest. We may be tempted to criticize all that we were enthusiastic about just a few days earlier. Hold both points of view. Don’t let one extinguish the other. Allow a synthesis to emerge, a new perspective taking the best of both.

Mars square Pluto retrograde is gaining strength. It will be exact on 6/11. It seems to indicate a time when bullies are active. Where wars are underway it can indicate the danger of rapid expansion, a more lethal phase, or the use of overwhelming force. In our own lives this is a good time to consider reforms in the Mars areas of our lives. We can examine feelings of anger. Have boundaries been violated? Perhaps libido has been suppressed and is causing irritated reactions. Mars is not the easiest energy to manage but if we put it to work to repair and reform we can accomplish a great deal. Paulo Coehlo wrote: “When you are enthusiastic about what you do, you feel this positive energy. It’s very simple.”
