Friends, we have before a quiet week of aspect with Venus emphasized, but a strong Pluto presence at well. All the aspects this week are harmonious, but it may not feel that way with the sun and moon in the final degree of the zodiac. Look for the little joys of life. Dedicate yourself to love. As Ficino pointed out, love is the secret of magic.
Monday 3/17 only lunar aspects are exact. 3/17 was the day Stewart and Betty White first contacted the Invisibles on a Ouija board. Here’s a quote from Betty about the true core of human nature: “It would take a poet or an angel to express it, because we do not know how to partake of this super-happiness. I get just a breath of it when I lie down next the earth and sniff it; and I get just a taste of it when I come in on the waves and the salt is on my lips; and I get just a whisper of it when I stay still in the woods and listen; and I get the most of it when I love something, even my dog or my garden.”
Tue 3/18 only lunar aspects are exact. 3/18 is Manly Hall’s birthday. Here’s one of my favorite quotes by him: “Though the modern world may know a million secrets, the ancient world knew one — and that was greater than the million; for the million secrets breed death, disaster, sorrow, selfishness, lust, and avarice, but the one secret confers life, light, and truth.”
Wed 3/19 the sun and Neptune are exactly conjunct in the final degree of the zodiac. On the low end of the spectrum this can indicate illusion, lies, exhaustion, confusion, and illness. On the high end inspiration, imagination, compassion, generosity, even cosmic consciousness. Psychic senses and mystical qualities of the soul seem more available, in life and in dreams. Dreams may have important messages. A great time for meditation, and for getting inspired to do something creative. If you need a break from reality intoxication may be pleasant, and is found not just in drugs or alcohol, but also and more so in love and nature. At the very least enjoy a good movie.
But this is not your everyday sun conjunct Neptune. This conjunction occurs in the last degree of the zodiac. As we’ve discussed this is a degree of culmination, collapses, endings, of looking back at what has been lost and feeling that the future is worse than the present which is bad enough. The imagination can run wild catastrophizing about every little thing individually and collectively. Don’t get swept away in that tide. Focus on inspiration and compassion and the certainty of the new cycle just about to begin.
Thu 3/20 spring arrives when the sun enters Aries at 2:01 AM. This is when the new year really begins. With Neptune following the sun into Aries in ten days we’re about to experience a shift in the zeitgeist. While there will be plenty of reasons to stay depressed the hopeful energy of spring will be magnified in the collective, since Neptune rules the mood of the masses. As Maya Angelou wrote: “But the true nature of the human heart is as whimsical as spring weather. All signals may aim toward a fall of rain when suddenly the skies will clear.”
Fri 3/21 Venus retrograde sextile Pluto is exact mid-afternoon. Sextiles are not the strongest aspects but they represent opportunities for harmonious experiences, in this case in the areas of romance, art, fashion and finance. Cathartic art or sexuality may brighten up the weekend but with Venus retrograde a gentle approach that cares about others will get better results than ruthless pursuit of desires. Creating art that expresses your deepest feelings good and bad can have a healing effext with this aspect.
Sat 3/22 sun conjunct Venus retrograde exact in the late evening adds to the creative and romantic atmosphere. Music, poetry, film, romance, appreciation of beauty are favored. A beautiful natural setting or great art in a museum could make for a memorable weekend. Venus retrograde tends to be a little more sensitive and introverted, so showing grace and consideration can go a long way. Don’t let frustrations acquired by watching the news or doom scrolling influence your relationships and your creativity.
Sun 3/23 sun sextile Pluto is exact in the early afternoon. Appreciating love and beauty during times like these may seem trivial but it’s quite the opposite. Love and beauty are great forces counteracting the ugliness and hatred of hubris. Show love to those you care about. Cherish and care for what is beautiful in your life and in yourself. Explore the depths of your true feelings. Outraged declarations, memes predicting the downfall of enemies, they have their place, but they are not the basis of good health or effective actions.
Remember you have within you an infinite source of creative intelligence. Appeal to it, ask for more light as Goethe did when he was dying. In tranquility find new horizons of potential. Let good ideas dawn on you. Cultivate healthy emotions. Encourage them in others. All the help you need is around you, but if the waters of your mind are in turmoil your thoughts cannot reflect the wisdom offered from your inmost core, and from the benevolence around us.
