All times Pacific.

Welcome to the week that marks the beginning of Neptune in Aries. We get a seven month immersion in the new collective atmosphere which will be here to stay on 1/26/26 until 2039. It’s not just that Neptune has been in the final sign of the zodiac since 2011, it’s now in the final degree of the zodiac. This is the end of the old cycle which began around the time the Confederacy seceded from the union beginning the Civil War. Abe Lincoln said: “I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.”

This shift from Pisces to Aries is intense. The shift from Sagittarius to Capricorn can be very jarring, too. Consider 2008 when the great bull market ended in the near collapse of the world economy. Capricorn pessimism replaced Sagittarius optimism. A time of consequences based on facts had arrived. Collette wrote: “You must not pity me because my sixtieth year finds me still astonished. To be astonished is one of the surest ways of not growing old too quickly.”

The shift from Pisces to Aries is an ending giving way to a beginning. This beginning is at first somewhat stifled by Saturn conjunct Neptune almost exact in July and then exactly conjunct in the first degree of the zodiac 2/20/2026 fading out by May. This has indicated in the past a disaster or pandemic that leaves the government looking incompetent while inspiring compassion. Usually it indicates a time of low spirits, of pessimism and economic hardship. But Neptune in Aries will bring the energy of spring. We’ll be getting a seven month preview of what that might be like beginning 3/30.

Neptune in Pisces can indicate cultural malaise, unrealistic idealism and ideology, epic propaganda, a nostalgic time, overly sensitive, and haunted by memories of better times. We’ve been in this cultural malaise since 2011/2012. Here at the end of the zodiac the feeling can be apocalyptic. We may believe we live in the shadow of the end of all we have known and held dear. Imagining dire futures, suffering feelings of helplessness. Public displays of the power of the big lie. Denial so deep it gaslights itself. Manipulation so brazen it claims the mantle of religion. Problems with intoxicants, with contamination, with droughts and floods, and with epidemics. We checked all the boxes.

Neptune in Aries has ego and belligerence but also devotion to regeneration. New trends in art are born that revitalize stale traditions, as the French Impressionists did when Neptune was last in Aries. There is a willingness to fight over what to believe. To fight for freedom and for the future, but not necessarily with old fashioned weapons. We could see brilliant young people finding ways to dramatically alter the playing field of the game that was Neptune in Pisces through programming breakthroughs, startling hacks, or tech discoveries. Neptune in Aries sextile Pluto in Aquarius is a very different atmosphere from our current astrological weather, and it favors the young, and Aquarian ideas like equality, fairness, and liberty.

The United States already embroiled in the Pluto return of the American revolutionary war, the Neptune return of the Civil War, and a Chiron return, will soon have the Uranus return of the Declaration of Independence. We are living during a critical point in the history of America as it confronts its numerous shadows. Since we find ourselves here we may well ask what we can do to avoid becoming the generation that surrendered the greatest experiment in government for the people and by the people. While it’s true the commitment to that high ideal has been lacking for many generations at least those generations handed us the better part of the great experiment. Will our generationbe the one that let this experiment in liberty die?

Pluto demands reform with the common good in mind. It’s the “how you have done to the least of these” kind of reform. Chiron indicates a need for healing the national psyche, but it can be a painful process, and it may never be completely cured. Neptune indicates not only the way of the big lie but also true compassion, inspired imagination, soulful charity. Uranus indicates breakthroughs in tech and medicine, new trends in the arts and music that make the status quo look quaint. Liberty and equality as touchstones of the future.

Monday 3/24 sun conjunct Uranus is exact in the early afternoon with moon conjunct Pluto mid-afternoon. Accept detours graciously they could lead to some kind of liberation. Intense feelings for many means commute with care. Do something different if you can. Think outside the box. Let your deepest feelings guide you to a realization. Make yourself available to a revelation. Octavio Paz wrote: “Wisdom lies neither in fixity nor in change, but in the dialectic between the two.”

Tue 3/25 Mercury retrograde sextile Pluto is exact mid-afternoon indicating a good time for research, for deep conversations, and for finding reforms and repairs before they become a problem. Adjust habits for greater well being. For many this aspect may indicate compulsive news gathering but with Mars square Chiron tomorrow healthier pursuits can go a long way. A good aspect for editing.

Wed 3/26 Mars square Chiron is exact mid-afternoon. This could indicate news about a potential issue with public health. Individually it’s a time when we are more likely to experience problems if we are suppressing or overdoing anger, desire, or ambition. Healing can be found in those areas of life if we make the effort. Mars square the US Chiron return indicates conflict between Mars urgency to have things a certain way and the wound at the heart of America. The Chiron return lasts a very long time. Yet we can find ways to bring healing to our families, our friends, our communities, by being soulful in the choices we make.

Thu 3/27 Venus retrograde reenters Pisces at 1:41 AM. Venus now joins Neptune in the final degree of the zodiac. Creative pursuits and relationships may slip back into the feeling that a cycle has ended and maybe this is over, too. But Venus retrograde conjunct Neptune exact in the early morning around dawn makes this week a time when we may find that a deeply meaningful gift, compassion, empathy, and inspiration can revive love. Remember what Ficino, a father of the Renaissance said: “The whole power of magic consists in love.”

Fri 3/28 only lunar aspects are exact. A founder of the Situationist movement, Guy Debord wrote: “In our society now, we prefer to see ourselves living than living.” He wrote that decades before selfies.

Sat 3/29 The new moon arrives at 3:54 AM with a solar eclipse at 9 Aries. This eclipse could indicate news about the wars but also a collective sense of getting on with it whatever this new world will be and seeking ways we can protect and shape our corners of it. Mercury retrograde reenters Pisces joining Venus and Neptune in the final degree of the zodiac. We could see a peak of pessimism. Certainly the powers that be who base what they do on old models of doing things may feel that they have succeeded in their purpose. But big changes are just around the corner, one of them tomorrow.

Sun 3/30 Neptune enters Aries. Neptune will be stationary retrograde on July the 4th. It will reenter Pisces 10/23. It. will be in the final degree of the zodiac from then until 1/26/26. The most intense time may be when it goes stationary direct in that degree on 12/9. So from 10/23 through 1/26 Neptune will be in the final degree of the zodiac. We’ve been seeing glimpses these last few weeks of issues that will be much more important then. Some fears will be realized. But there will reasons for hope as well. In our own lives we can look back to 2011/2012 and at how are lives have changed. What have we learned? What do we wish we had learned? Where have we allowed weakness to stagnate? Where have we allowed the perfectionism of false idealism to disempower us? What do we need to know about how our desires, our anger, and our ambitions can fit in with this new flavor of collective sentiment? Write down dreams.
