All times Pacific.

Welcome to what promises to be one of the most intense weeks of 2026. With Mars trine Neptune all this week, and Venus sextile Uranus, Mercury sextile Pluto, and sun square Mars in the beginning of the week, it’s a time for inspiration, art, music, film and all arts, especially writing. Do research, try new things. But with that square anger can turn into violence, especially where long term frustration about ambition, desire, and/or anger can turn what could have been a night to remember into an argument. Uranus wants a change of pace. Pluto demands we think and live deeply. Sun and Mars give us energy to use or to be used by. We might not think what we do or say is aggressive but the results speak for themselves. Venus and Neptune indicate we can be gracious, compassionate, even inspiring.

There is another challenge: Pluto is slowing down to stationary retrograde. At least it won’t be going back to Capricorn again. The events of Pluto stations rarely surprise us. They are the results of long term neglect, willful destructiveness, or impermanence. But Pluto stations can be tranquil, healing, cathartic, and can indicate individual and collective rebirth. With Pluto moving retrograde ruthless strategies may expire or backfire. Pluto was stationary direct in the cataclysmic final degree of Capricorn in October 2024, and there it stayed until after the election, suggesting this was the culmination of the past not the beginning of the future, though of course everything that happens is both.

4/21 and 4/22 only lunar aspects are exact. Marcus Aurelius said “the soul is dyed by the color of its thoughts.” (Meditations 5:16) What color are you dyeing your soul?

4/23 sun square Pluto is exact. With Pluto slowing down to stationary retrograde this day may include power struggles, suspicions, had it up to here speeches, but also with some effort tranquility, healing, and the ability to make changes that serve the common good. With Mars about to oppose Pluto we’ve got a powerful T-square to navigate for a few days. Individually and collectively ego issues could trigger angry reactions, even threats of war or hostile acts. This T-square is like rams butting heads, and it’s all about ego. Try not to take everything personally. There may be an urgent feeling that you must take some kind of action and perhaps you should, but Pluto allows us to calm down, to meditate, to pray for the wisdom to recognize what to do next. Avoid conflict with authorities or belligerent people during this T-square, as hostility is at a peak. Commute carefully.

4/24 Venus conjunct Saturn is exact: on the negative end of the spectrum this can indicate relationships that end, creative discouragement. Times have become forboding for women and for everyone who isn’t in on the scam, but with even the right to vote under attack women are feeling the weight of the world. Be helpful. Express love and admiration. Artists may feel blocked by current events. Businesses of all sizes are assessing the damage and the contraction on its way (Venus rules finances). In our own relationships we may need to give the ones we love time alone. We want to show loyalty, stability, discipline, thoroughness, all the Saturn virtues. For most not a good time for celebration and pushing having a good time could easily lead to alienation, guilt and hurt feeligns. A beautiful time to make art or to be creative in your own way, and especially for learning more about your craft, or learning about a new one.

4/25 only lunar aspects are exact. Michel Foucault wrote: “What strikes me is the fact that in our society, art has become something which is only related to objects, and not to individuals, or to life.”

4/26 Mars opposition Pluto turns stationary retrograde. We’ve been waiting to finally get to this third of three Mars opposition Pluto aspects. The first was exact just before the election. The opposition has been with since last October, an unusually long Mars opposition Pluto. This is an aggressive, brooding, hostile, explosive aspect. Those who have kept silence may find themselves unloading anger in potentially regrettable words. Don’t waste this energy on arguing with trolls about current events. Use this extra energy to improve where you can. Put hard work into cleaning, throwing out, refocusing, knowing what you want, and how to make a difference. Pluto asks us to be concerned with the common good, not our own at the expense of everyone else’s. This can be an accident prone aspect especially when strong feelings are suppressed, especially anger.

4/27 the new moon in Taurus arrives at 12:31 PM, a sensual new moon to remind us it is spring. Take time to do the things that make you feel comfortable and secure. If you can, improve the quality of the food you eat. Spend a few moments every day appreciating beauty even as humble as the song of a sparrow. Explore the power of love by daring to love life during times like these.

The following week is even quieter astrologically speaking but also has challenges as Venus spends two days in the final degree of the zodiac then leaves Pisces for Aries and a conjunction with Neptune. Pluto is stationary retrograde Sunday morning 5/4. Relationships may end with Venus in that final degree, or the future may seem so bleak love seems frivolous at a time when it’s most important. Artists may struggle with the culmination of a long flirtation with futility. But Venus conjunct Neptune, the higher octave of Venus, is a wonderful time for creativity and romance. New relationships may begin. Existing relationships reborn again. With Pluto stationary retrograde getting there will require owning up to where we’ve gone wrong, a renewed dedication to finding the unique ways we can contribute to making the world a better place. At the very least enjoy nature, music, art or film as a reminder of the beauty of the world.

Let’s talk about Uranus in Taurus until 7/7, then again 11/8 until 4/24/26 and for six years after. Uranus entered Taurus in May of 2018, the headlines were full of terrorism. The time before that was 1942 as the United States joined World War 2. Uranus is in its fall in Taurus, which is to say it’s not at all comfortable there. As Sakoin and Acker wrote: “— — therefore the urge to freedom and the expression of intuitive ideas are limited by an attachment to material objects, or by difficulties incurred in the attempt to change material conditions too quickly. Attachment to home and family can also dampen individual expression. Spiritual impulses, too, may be frustrated by subservience to conservative institutions in business, and government that reflect the materialism of the prevailing social order.” Sound familiar?

In short the Uranian side of society, the shocking creativity of countercultures, has been dampened since 2018, although an argument could be made for 2008 when Pluto entered Capricorn. When Uranus enters Gemini on 7/7 the US Uranus return begins. Last time around we fought World War Two. But there is the potential for the end of the stubborn noncooperation strategies and other 20th century bad habits practiced by both parties. Uranus in Gemini prefers to see both sides of any issue. Words are the best weapons when Uranus is in Gemini, although drones are a close second.

Once Uranus joins Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto in their new signs we’ll be in for a wild ride, one that most likely no one has correctly predicted. In the mean time lets use these times to learn patience, the ability to have joy and even fun in our lives as often as we can, while doing what we can about what is happening to our friends, families, and communities. Times like these are for soul making. How will you use the creative power within you?
