Friends, we haven’t had a week with such a preponderance of significant positive aspects in I don’t know how long. With Uranus and Mercury emphasized, and Mercury about to enter Aquarius and exactly conjunct Pluto, this week should have a distinctly Pluto in Aquarius flavor. Look for subtle metaphorical messages, omens, glimpses of the future, insights from dreams, and synchronicity. Individually and collectively, we are about to learn some things about the difference between 2008–2024 and 2024–2044.
Sunday 1/28 Mercury trine Uranus is exact in the early afternoon followed by Venus trine Jupiter in the late afternoon. These trines are among the most positive aspects in astrology. The first can indicate genius, sudden progress, and liberating realizations and communications. Writers, there’s no better time to write. For all creative people most of this week is an opportunity. Think about different ways of doing things. Reach out in an unexpected way. Research something that sweeps away the cobwebs from head and heart. Venus trine Jupiter indicates a time for creativity, for romance, and for opportunities, mostly by way of women. It can indicate a time of delirious love, joy with friends and family, the kinds of fun that are memorable. As Audre Lorde wrote: “In our work and in our living, we must recognize that difference is a reason for celebration and growth, rather than a reason for destruction.”
Monday 1/29 Mars trine Uranus is exact in the mid-afternoon. With conjunct Mars and Mercury trine impulsive Uranus, with Venus smiling on Jupiter, it will be interesting to see how Nikki Haley’s strategy of baiting Trump will evolve this week and next. With Mars now exactly trine Uranus anger can all too easily erupt into regrettable statements. But if we can put all this energy into clearing away the clutter of the past and updating our metaphorical operating systems this week could be a memorable and what they used to call fateful time. Be careful driving and walking near cars because these aspects are high energy and prone to speed and sudden unexpected actions. Even a trine can indicate an accident when Mercury, Mars and Uranus are involved. It’s traditional to issue a warning about being careful with sharp objects and with electricity.
Tue 1/30, Wed 1/31 and Thu 2/1 only lunar aspects are exact. Sappho wrote: “Of all the children of the earth and heaven love is the most precious.”
Fri 2/2 Mercury sextile Neptune is exact about three hours after midnight. The subtle harmony of this aspect can indicate no more than a pleasant feeling of intoxication, but also enlightening or enchanting dreams, enhanced imagination and inspiration, and a good time for meditation, reading about the psychic, paranormal and mystical. The dark of the moon begins at 3:18 PM so take it easy over the next seven days. No need to rush ahead. Finish what you can. Rest and recharge. Relax and the messages life sends us can become clearer.
Sat 2/3 only lunar aspects are exact. Plutarch wrote: “The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.”
Sun 2/4 Mercury enters Aquarius at 9:10 PM. Mercury is exalted in Aquarius so this is a good time for updating tech, crowd sourcing, finding allies, holding both sides of any paradox, understanding differing points of view. A good placement for multitasking successfully. Mercury will be exactly conjunct Pluto about an hour and a half before dawn possibly making this weekend a time for messages about what Pluto in Aquarius indicates in our own lives and as societies. But these insights must come naturally. The downside of this conjunction is obsessiveness, compulsion, criminal urges, sabotage, and power struggles. Don’t fall down any rabbit holes or needlessly trigger conflict. Respect the tranquility Pluto offers to the mindful.
Usually with Pluto a crisis or breakdown occurs slowly with many opportunities to address it by reform or repair. Neglect means an inevitable crisis that overwhelms with its magnitude. But Pluto in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus, suggests breakdowns that may occur without warning. When dealing with this side of Pluto take it as opportunity to practice patience, to meditate for perspective, and to prepare for regeneration and rebirth. Find the freedom within changes that can’t be avoided. Adapt for peace of mind.
