Friends, Saturn is direct as of Friday morning, but will dwell in the degree of its station through 12/4. Pluto dwells in the degree of its station until 11/19 and its been in that degree since 9/3 a week before the Harris Trump debate. Pluto in Aquarius didn’t last long but it ended with, for some, a euphoric summer of the Paris Olympics followed by the DNC when excitement about the Harris candidacy surged. 0 degrees Aquarius is a degree of beginnings. But since 9/3 we’ve been in a degree of endings, 29 Capricorn.
To understand the circus American politics has become read Nothing is True but Everything is Possible. It’s been out awhile but the system hasn’t changed, except that it’s been imported to America. Where the new administration genuinely brings much needed change they will represent Pluto in Aquarius and have the wind in their sails. Social engineering projects, and other attempts to turn back the clock, to assert and protect male elder elites, will not be an easy task with Pluto in Aquarius. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius America fought the greatest empire of the time and won independence. Americans will not be in the mood for tyrants, no matter how allegedly benevolent, over the next almost twenty years. By the way, astrologers have been pointing out the similarities between the astrological charts of King George III and the president elect.
Now what if this chaos is a good thing? Perhaps we are pleasantly surprised when some of these radical moves that are promised are implemented and turn out to be real improvements. Rather than stringing ourselves out with constant outrage we should be ready to witness what happens next. If the general consensus on the left seems to be that this administration is a clown car that will damage America then that may be just the shock Uranus ordered. See it all done. See the shadow in full unchained glory. Let it play itself out in the fury of its urgency. The wrecking ball that is needed for the update of what America means to us and how and why it exists. We will all be learning about what we truly value. Let’s prepare to do what we can for those who will suffer the consequences of these big changes.
Key dates to watch: 11/19 when Pluto returns to Aquarius. 5/24/2025 to 9/1/2025 when Saturn enters Aries. 3/30/2025 to 10/22/2025 when Neptune enters Aries. And 7/7/2025 to 11/7/2025 when Uranus enters Gemini. Let’s unpack this a little. Both Saturn and Neptune are going to be at 29 degrees Pisces, nearly exactly conjunct in July of 2025. As the final degree of the zodiac, 29 Pisces is the end of a long cycle. Neptune was last in that degree at the creation of the Confederacy. When Neptune entered Aries the Civil War broke out. This is not to suggest that a repeat of the civil war is coming, not in the old fashioned way. Rather the civil war is already here, they call it a culture war. Uranus in Gemini leads directly to the U.S. Uranus return. The U.S. has fought 3 wars when Uranus was in Gemini: the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War II, it’s always a fight for freedom. Perhaps this time it won’t be a traditional war.
Saturn and Neptune will be exactly conjunct at zero degrees Aries in 2026, a fresh start around the zodiac for both. Historically speaking, Saturn Pluto conjunctions like 2020 tend to cause a major crisis that cause governments to overreact inspiring widespread suspicion and distrust. Saturn Neptune conjunctions can bring about crisis situations where people feel the government is helpless. This conjunction will be with us on and off next year and the year after. Yet, there is also a renaissance connotation with Saturn Neptune conjunctions, especially in Aries. Cultural flowerings can occur that change the mood of the times.
Sunday 11/17 only lunar aspects are exact. As philosophy professor Martha Nussbaum wrote: “Fear and monarchy pair nicely. But democracy means you have to work with people you may not like but you must still believe are your equals. And a fearful people never trust the other side.”
Mon 11/18 Mercury opposition Jupiter is exact about an hour after midnight. Try not to talk too much, don’t talk over others. If they talk over you, don’t return the favor. This aspect can indicate opportunity but also false optimism. Exaggeration, and testing boundaries then dismissing it as a joke, are typical of this opposition, so the news should continue to be filled with big talk. Then sun trine Neptune is exact in the early evening, an opportunity for inspiration. meditation, or a good movie and a glass of your favorite libation.
Tue 11/19 Mercury trine Chiron is exact in the witching hour between 3 AM and 4 AM indicating opportunities for learning about healing. There may be some good news about public health. In our own lives we can pay attention to the subtle discomforts that may require subtle adjustments of diet, habit or posture. A conversation could lead to an understanding of how to attain greater well being.
Then Pluto enters Aquarius at 12:29 PM. We made it, folks, Pluto in Capricorn is over. It lived up to everything it promised to be right up till the end. The resemblances to Rome’s first Pluto return are profound, except that Rome accepted an emperor of color, after much bloodshed. We’ve had a pandemic, lock-downs, an economic collapse, chaos in politics, weather changes, oligarchy, old men in power, a quiet world war, but it could have been so much worse. If you’ve been feeling stuck or have been backsliding you may find some relief especially after 12/4.
Wed 11/20 only lunar aspects are exact. Virginia Woolf wrote: “You cannot find peace by avoiding life.”
Thu 11/21 the sun enters Sagittarius at 11:56 AM followed by sun sextile Pluto in the early afternoon. Sun in Scorpio amplifies the Pluto side of life so many have been especially apprehensive, waiting for the next shocking secret to be revealed. Sun in Sagittarius brings with it the holiday spirit of Thanksgiving and the approach of Christmas. It’s a more sociable and jovial placement. Sun sextile Pluto can help us take care of or adjust reforms and repairs. We can give ourselves space for our deeper darker emotions, or perhaps enjoy a cathartic pastime.
Fri 11/22 Venus sextile Saturn is exact during the witching hour. This sextile can indicate a time when the focus in relationships should be on loyalty and respecting quiet and space, while in the arts a good time for editing, for practicing, for laying down structure, and for studying. The dark of the moon begins at 5:28 PM, and is usually considered a bad time for starting new things, but good for finishing and for looking back over the last few weeks for where we could have made better choices.
Sat 11/23 and Sun 11/24 only lunar aspects are exact. Isabel Allande wrote: “I promise you that women working together linked, informed and educated, can bring peace and prosperity to this forsaken planet.”
