Star Weather Astrology Report 2/10–2/16

Friends, although we have few aspects this week two Uranus squares could make it a time of interruptions, nervousness, and hurry. Times like these require patience and the cultivation of tranquility. If we can center ourselves, achieving spiritual stability, we can look at the spectacle of hostility unfolding in the news and in the comments of people who have lost their way, without being sucked into the vortex of fear and anger. Lashing out with judgemental dismissal of the despised takes a toll on body and soul. If we allow ourselves to become entangled in conflicts, or we lament the lack of sanity, we have lost our way. If we can stay focused on our own corners of the universe we can work for reform in ways that are natural for us. Arguing rarely changes minds. Aggression invites aggression. Even the most complete victory sows the seeds of future defeat.
Monday 2/10 Mercury square Uranus is exact in the late morning. This can be a nervous aspect, especially with Uranus so recently stationary. An unnecessary sense of urgency or a sudden distraction could make us accident prone. There may be a tendency to blurt shocking statements we later regret. But this can be good aspect for enjoying enlightening conversations, and for breakthroughs in tech, or in perspective, that make it easier to communicate and organize. Unexpected realizations may alter points of view. With sun square Uranus tomorrow and Mercury still conjunct the sun stay open-minded about changes and detours.
Tue 2/11 sun square Uranus is exact in the late morning, another potentially accident prone aspect, especially if we‘ve been repressing feelings of having enough freedom in our lives. Trouble with tech may impede the way. Take it easy. Don’t rush. Make changes where possible but don’t force them on people who may not be ready for them yet. The first of the big astrological changes this year is Neptune entering Aries March 30. Could this mean war? It could. But it also indicates the first step in a new trip around the zodiac for Neptune, which represents the collective atmosphere or sentiment. We’ve been at the end of a cycle that began just before the American Civil War. Neptune is strong in Pisces but the feeling of nostalgia for better times, or the sense of a great ending that closes another chapter in the book of life, may be oppressive. We may feel overwhelmed by shocking leaps forward in technology.
We can look back in our own lives to April 2011, just before the disaster at Fukushima, when Neptune first entered Pisces, and ponder what we’ve learned about compassion, illusion, imagination, and inspiration. With Neptune in Aries we’ll be feeling energized and ready to take on the new world being born. But this will not be an immediate leap forward. Saturn conjunct Neptune in Aries could indicate another pandemic that government finds hard to control. Key dates are July 2025 when both Saturn and Neptune are retrograde in Aries, and then again in February 2026 when the conjunction is exact.
Saturn conjunct Neptune can indicate a time when people are depressed and pessimistic, when they feel they have no control. We’re already feeling it with Saturn and Neptune together in Pisces. Throughout March when Neptune reaches the final degree of Pisces, and in the middle of May when Saturn enters that degree, we have a time of pessimism, culmination, contraction. Once Saturn leaves the Neptune conjunction mid 2026 there will be plenty of mistakes to fix but also thrilling discoveries in medicine and a new zeitgeist of aggressive optimism that Pluto in Aquarius may guide to constructive purposes. George Washington wrote: “Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.”
Wed 2/12 the full moon in Leo arrives at 5:53 AM. Celebrate Lincoln’s, Cotton Mather’s, and John Winthrop the Younger’s birthday by unplugging for a moment and pondering what freedom means to you. With those Uranus squares still in play the ego boost of Leo could lead to unnecessarily anxious conversations and actions. No need for dramatic pronouncements. Lead by example.
Thu 2/13 only lunar aspects are exact. Lincoln wrote: “Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, every where.”
Fri 2/14 Mercury enters Pisces at 4:06 AM. Mercury will enter Aries the first week of March, heralding Neptune’s arrival in Aries at the end of that month. From now until early March we can focus on finishing projects to clear the way for our adventures with Neptune in Aries, Saturn in Aries (5/24), and Uranus in Gemini (7/1). All three will slip back into the signs they are in now until 2026 when the big changes on the way are here to stay. All three will give us new perspectives, opportunities, and challenges.
Sat 2/15 and Sunday 2/16 only lunar aspects are exact. Abraham Lincoln wrote: “The people — the people — are the rightful masters of both congresses, and courts.” It will take time to make that clear.
