Friends, we have before us a very quiet week, astrologically speaking, during which Mercury retrograde and the Uranus station will end, hopefully bringing down the level of tension somewhat. Big changes are occurring. New circumstances have begun to strongly assert themselves but we have a long way to go as Uranus backtracks through the rest of this year. The trends toward unionization, the protests, the demands for greater equality and for a living wage are not going away, they are only getting started, with Pluto about to enter Aquarius in Jan 2024.

Sun 9/10 only lunar aspects are exact. With moon inconjunct Saturn all afternoon take it easy. Health issues could come up due to exhaustion or the burden of over-responsibility. Get some rest.

Mon 9/11 Sun inconjunct Chiron is exact. It could be that illness suffered by self or others causes changes in plans in the early week. Health tends to be a bit more sensitive with this aspect. Keep things simple. Not a good time for skipping meals or sleep, or for overdoing comfort foods, etc. Most of us have developed PTSD between the pandemic years, the political chaos, and the environmental disasters we’ve endured. Most of us had it before all that, from the nature of our society. As we resume our lives in this rapidly changing world reminders of what we’ve lost and what has been lost collectively could trip us up. As Colette wrote: “It’s so curious: one can resist tears and ‘behave’ very well in the hardest hours of grief. But then someone makes you a friendly sign behind a window, or one notices that a flower that was in bud only yesterday has suddenly blossomed, or a letter slips from a drawer… and everything collapses.”

Tue 9/12 only lunar aspects are exact. With moon inconjunct Neptune and inconjunct Pluto all afternoon and into the evening health issues could continue. Neptune like Saturn can indicate exhaustion and the consequences of procrastination.

Wed 9/13 Uranus finally leaves the degree of its station where it has remained since 8/28. Two weeks of Uranus occupying 23 Taurus will end. These stations, when they involve the bigger planets, seem to indicate periods of increasing tension. Nervous energy runs high with Uranus. If we’ve been feeling the disorienting repercussions of changes happening around us we are not alone. Pessoa gave this chilling description of a life overwhelmed by anxiety: “That is how I experience life, as apocalypse and cataclysm. Each day brings an increasing inability in myself to make the smallest gesture, even to imagine myself confronting clear, real situations. The presence of others — always such an unexpected event for the soul — grows daily more painful and distressing. Talking to others makes me shudder. If they show any interest in me, I flee. If they look at me, I tremble. I am constantly on the defensive. Life and other people bruise me. I can’t look reality in the eye.” If this is you or someone you love take some time to reconnect with the humble beauties of nature and the familiar reassurances of all you cherish.

Thu 9/14 only lunar aspects are exact but the new moon in Virgo arrives at 6:40 PM. Get organized! As an old Chinese proverb says: “You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying overhead, but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair.”

Fri 9/15 Mercury is stationary direct at 1:21 PM. For some this does not indicate immediate relief from delays, detours and confusion. It may take a few days for the predicaments of the retrograde to subside. In the early evening sun trine Uranus is exact. Do something that makes you feel free. Or at least update your tech. Try something different. Enjoy an unexpected adventure. This aspect indicates a good time for liberating ourselves from unnecessary concerns. As Morihei Ueshiba wrote: “When you lose your desire for things that do not matter, you will be free.”

Sat 9/16 Venus square Jupiter is exact in the late evening. This can be a fun and fortunate aspect especially if we put some work into it. The risk is that we over-indulge, over-spend, and set ourselves up for disappointment when our over-optimism fades. Take time to do things and to be with people that make you feel happy, harmonious, and content. Find those moments where you can as they nourish body, mind, and soul. Ficino suggested when there is too much Saturn in our lives that we balance it with Jupiter. Here we have Venus ready to help, but squares can be irritating, even intimidating. They are like stairs. We must put some effort into taking one step at a time. As Samuel Beckett wrote: “Why doesn’t he make himself comfortable? Let’s try and get this clear. Has he not the right to? Certainly he has. It follows that he doesn’t want to. There’s reasoning for you.”
