Star Weather Astrology Report 9/22–9/29

All times Pacific.
Friends, we have before us the quietest week of September, astrologically speaking, but Pluto is almost stationary in the last degree of Capricorn, and we find ourselves between a lunar and a solar eclipse. Pluto in the last degree of Capricorn signifies the end of an “era” that began in 2008. The eclipses reveal secrets, trigger endings (lunar), but also beginnings (solar). Uranus retrograde continues to dwell in the degree of its station until 9/27 an indication of building tension. Often the last days of these long stations become irritating as we feel things aren’t moving fast enough. A little extra caution is suggested over the next three weeks. Give yourself some time and some space so you can get a clearer sense of what the pitfalls and opportunities of the changing circumstances might be.
Sunday 9/22 summer officially ends and autumn begins as the sun enters Libra at 5:44 AM. The Equinox is a sacred moment. A nice morning for a dawn meditation. The atmosphere becomes more romantic with sun in Libra. The enchanting colors of fall and the cooler weather can be charming. Listen to some beautiful music. Venus square Pluto is exact mid-afternoon. Venus square Pluto can be fun and cathartic, but it can also be destructive. Avoid power struggles, especially in romance and the arts. If you’re creative this aspect is good for diving into the depths, for confronting fears and liberating love. On the mundane level it’s not uncommon to become frustrated with responsibilities that get in the way of enjoying some Venus in our lives. Venus enters Scorpio in the early evening amplifying the Pluto theme of letting go or, ironically, obsession.
Mon 9/23 only lunar aspects are exact. Camus wrote: “Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.”
Tue 9/24 Mercury trine Uranus is exact in the late morning. Normally this indicates quick thought, serendipitous conversations, liberating realizations. But Mercury is busy today and tomorrow. Tomorrow’s Mercury opposition Neptune might indicate brilliant inspiration or foggy confusion and doubt. Tomorrow’s Mercury trine Neptune could make Monday’s bright ideas into life changing comprehension. Writers and other communicators we want to be using our skills this week as much as we can. Mercury is acting as a prism for Pluto, Neptune and Uranus, which are three kinds of change. Pluto changes are slow, obvious, dangerous if neglected, and unavoidable. Neptune changes involve dissolving, fading away, losing direction. Uranus changes are sudden, usually unexpected and even shocking. Are we seeing this sort of thing in our own lives? We are certainly seeing all the above in the news feed. What are we to learn from all this? Take a moment to ponder.
Wed 9/25 Mercury opposition Neptune in the very early morning before sunrise could indicate a dream with a message. We may have had a flash of realization yesterday. After we sleep on it we have a deeper understanding, though still rather vague. In the evening Mercury trine Pluto is exact and we begin to understand the true dimensions of the experience or opportunity. Again, a great time for writing and other creativity or activities involving dexterity and information.
Thu 9/26 Mercury enters Aries at 1:09 AM to begin a new cycle around the zodiac. Mercury nearing the end of Pisces added to the end of the era feeling, as Pisces closes the zodiac. Mercury in Aries can indicate a new perspective, fresh energy, an exciting conversation. We could be seeing news about young people taking action, perhaps with a new approach that signifies progress.
Fri 9/27 and Sat 9/28 only lunar aspects are exact. Rainer Maria Rilke wrote: “We have no reason to harbor any mistrust against our world, for it is not against us. If it has terrors, they are our terrors; if it has abysses, these abysses belong to us; if there are dangers, we must try to love them. And if only we arrange our life in accordance with the principle which tells us that we must always trust in the difficult, then what now appears to us as the most alien will become our most intimate and trusted experience. How could we forget those ancient myths that stand at the beginning of all races, the myths about dragons that at the last moment are transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.”
Sun 9/29 Mars trine Saturn is exact in the evening. Steady energy is available if we use it wisely. Simplify wherever possible. Organize before taking action. A good aspect for setting an exercise habit. Take the long view when considering how best to achieve goals. Work on fundamentals.
Next week is even quieter, astrologically speaking, although there is a solar eclipse in Libra on Oct 2. Enjoy the lull because the second week of October is busy and intense with Pluto stationary direct Oct 11. The eclipse happens to fall on on the first night of Rosh Hashana and the Pluto station on the first night of Yom Kippur, this could indicate another shock in the Middle East. More than one of the overwhelming and various aspects of crisis we are watching unfold may hit turning points in October.
The suspense and the stress of the lead up to the election are a great opportunity for practicing the art of inner peace. Patience, being comfortable with doubt while we witness history, doing what we can where we are with what we have, taking time to enjoy simple moments of life, to cherish those we care about, and life itself, these are ways we can benefit from stressful times. A Tibetan lama told a monk who was flustered about transportation plans gone awry that if such a trifle could disturb his peace of mind how would he fare after death? We develop courage and composure here and now so we can use them later. Take this rare opportunity to forge a better self in the fires of historical change.
